What to wear to pinning?

We've been told we have to wear all white to our pinning ceremony in May. The official vote was that we wear "something we could wear to work." So, I'm sorta at a loss about what to actually wear. I went yesterday and bought white "scrub" pants that look more like trousers and a white "Scrub" top that looks like a faux wrap top w/ embroidery around the collar and I think it looks nice. But- I feel like that may not be dressy enough for such as an important occasion.

What are others wearing? Do you think scrubs are appropriate, or should I get slacks and a blouse or a suit?

TIA for any opinions.

BTW- our affiliate school is also pinning their nursing students w/ us, and they'll all be wearing blue polo shirts white white pants and a white lab coat. It was suggested we do something similar, but we didn't have a majority vote.

At our schools pinning ceremony in May we are all wearing white scrubs. Some people are wearing fancier scrubs than others but as long as they are stark white it's okay. Our group had to vote on to wear white scrubs or cap and gown. We voted for the scrubs because it relates more to what we are celebrating ya know. Good luck!:balloons:

My class is also wearing WHITE SCRUBS. Thank God, because some of the students wanted to wear all different colored scrubs or dressy outfits. I went to a Pinning ceremony where they could all wear white, but when I say white, I mean anything white, i.e. skirt, mini-skirt, dress, pantsuit. Some had on winter-white, some wore spandex (who didn't need to wear spandex). It looked horrible. I am an LVN Transition student, so I've been through a pinning ceremony already; the ones who wanted the other options have not and have no idea what it should look like. Luckily, I was able to convince my nursing director to put out a memo stating we were to wear white scrubs. The cap and gown are for graduation. Best of luck to you!

Thank god there are some sane people left! I swear it was like pulling teeth getting people to understand that cap and gown are for graduation! If we would have lost the vote I think my head would have started spinning. :angryfire :eek: . Good Luck to you as well.

I wore a white mock wrap scrub dress. I can't remember who makes it (I think L.A. Rose), but I wore it with white nylons and my white clinical shoes. It looked very professional and feminine. There were about 4 or 5 other girls who wore the same dress.

I'm wearing a white nurse's skirt with a lab coat. White stockings, tee-shirt, nurse shoes.

An occasion deserves a dress.

For my LPN Pinning, the "girls" wore white dresses with 3/4 length sleeves, etc., AND in July. For the RN Pinning, we got to wear something "professional", as the Ceremony was held in the church next door. Yeah, there were several who dressed like they were going to a fancy party/whatever......but the whole thing went off pretty well.

We have to wear a white uniform (our choice) and our hair up, make-up and jewelry has to be "med-surg appropriate."

I just have to find something to wear :)

We all are wearing white, however we just had to wear soemthing with a collar. I am wearing the traditional white dress :-) It's cute, alot of our class is wearing dresses, but others are wearing cute scrubs. We are also waering nursing hats..I know cheezy, but I'll go in my underwear as long as I graduate!

We've got the same directive: uniform whites, something we could wear to work. Some of us were going to wear the nicer dresses-with-blazer outfits like Peaches have, but that got nixed ("not unless everyone wears blazers"?!?). Anyway, a uniform dress alone would be ok, but only with nursing shoes...and I don't know about you, but I'll be darned if these short stumpy legs are gonna wear clunky chunky nursing shoes with a DRESS! So, it's uniform pants and a top for me :)

I found a very nice embroidered top, tie back, and flare-legged NONseethrough pants. It looks professional and still dressy (the front is covered in embroidery, and I COULD wear it to work, although it's a dressier choice). The pants I can definitely wear to work.

I'm disappointed in not wearing a dress; I figured, it's MY graduation, if I want to dress in a two-piece professional outfit, why not? But I won't degrade the look of a one-piece dress with those nasty shoes, in my opinion. I'll leave that look to those with better legs!!

Our pinning ceremony is in the evening and at a local church. The women are wearing black dresses or pantsuits and the men are wearing dark suits with ties! We are following the same dress code of the class graduating before us and I think it made for a very "elegant" special occasion!:)

For our pinning ceremony, we are required to wear our school uniform. This is the same uniform that we wear to our clinical days. White pants or skirt with a white button-up top with our school patch on the left arm. Everyone has been breaking out the peroxide to get the betadine stains out of the clothes to get ready for pinning. lol. Graduation occurs after the pinning ceremony when we wear cap and gown and dark shoes. Looks like there is going to be a lot of nursing students changing clothes really fast.
