Is that a digital watch that counts down the seconds? I am in my first semester at school. Please tell me because I have to buy it. I came here because you guys are more experienced. Thanks.
Someone brought up culture.
Some cultures such as American Indian, do not count time like most of us think of counting or keeping track of time including days, weeks, years, minutes, hours...all of that.
Even though I made somewhat of a flip post at the beginning of this thread, I'll give the OP the benefit of the doubt. It would be interesting to hear from the OP to see what he/she has to say about how the question regarding a "second hand" arose and what his/her history of time keeping is.
And in regard to the statement about electronic bp reading--Nursing schools should absolutely be teaching students to use a stethoscope and sphygmomanometer to take a bp. It's a crime and maybe a cruddy program if they're not.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I JUST GOT HOME FROM A BUSY WORK DAY, WORRIED ABOUT MY FRIEND WHO'S A NURSE IN FLORIDA AND DIDNT GET EVACUATED IN TIME FROM WEST PALM BEACH COUNTY. THIS IS THE FUNNIEST THING I'VE HEARD ALL DAY. SHE WILL NEED A LAUGH WHEN ALL IS DONE. THANK YOU.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh my this is a blonde joke right???? If you are really serious I'm sorry for :chuckle . Just go to Wal-Mart tell them what you need and they can show you all kinds of watches with second hands. Hope this helps. CRB613
sorry...but for someone that has graduated high school and thinking about nursing school has no idea what a second hand is on a watch, i think were all in trouble. Its a reflection of maybe how poor some educational systems are. Its really a shame..almost a crime...i have my tax stubs to prove it!
Do you suppose they still make watches with a second hand? Or do we have to go an antique shop now to find them? Maybe we all should have saved our old Timex watches(those of us that are old enough to have had them)...they could be worth lots of money now--especially if we could sell them to new young nursing students who need them--LOL :chuckle :chuckle

This needs a serious answer----I think it is easier to count pulse watching a second hand than watching numbers!!!!! (And nurses don't have time to wait for the minute to start on the watch!!!!!!!!)
