What wakes you up in the morning?

Published

Im curious, all of us nurses have early starts. We have to be bright and cheery for our patients. But what wakes you up first thing? Coffee, a walk to clinicals and music are generally mine, so whats yours? Is there any song in particular?:D

Coffee for sure. I can't function without that first cup in the am.

I have to chew Jolt gum on my drive in.

The days I have clinical, I have to be at the hospital around 0640 since we begin at 0645. I have a 40 minute commute then a 5 minute walk from the student parking lot to the hospital. All that has me waking up around 0500 to eat a bowl of cereal, get dressed, and out the door. So really, I've been up for about 2 hours before I even see a patient. I'm already awake, no coffee required. lol.

Diet Mountain Dew . . . and lots of it!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) frozen banana, orange, yogurt, ginger, flax seed meal smoothie

2) 1 mile run

3) shower

4) pride and excitement about what I am doing

5) after those 4 you dont need a 5th

A wet nose, sloppy kisses, and the usual dose of whimpering.....gotta luv dogs...*sleepy time now* :zzzzz

Lots and lots of diet coke, as well as singing at the top of my lungs on the drive in to the hospital. Probably look like I'm having some sort of psychiatric event, but it works for me!!

I lucked out and have 3p-9p clinicals this rotation, but when I do have to get up early I have to down 3-4 cups of coffee before I even leave the couch!

I second the Diet Coke! Personally I love the smell of coffee but not the taste. Diet Coke is a must have every morning for me.

Diet pepsi, a PB sandwich, and a lukewarm shower.

The alarm on my cell phone is what wakes me.
