just wondered if you had to describe yourself, what type of nurse are you?
are you the great resource nurse who reads a situation very well and can help a fellow nurse trouble shoot a problem?
are you the one who is so afraid of not being perfect enough, to the extent that you suffer indigestion, headache and nervous dread?
are you a master at completing all of your tasks speedily and resent when your manager asks you to do just one more task outside of your daily duties?
are you the funny one who livens things up for patients family and coworkers?
are you the one who feels that others are not doing enough to comprehensively do what is required during their shifts?
about me:
i would describe myself as one who remains calm during trials and i know that getting angry at any time only burns my candle out mighty quick. i am sometimes caught up in the tasks and not spending enough time seeing the entire gestalt of the goals of the care, the plan of care. my goal is mainly to get my patients back to the real world soon and unthinkable to anything that would hinder its fruition.

I consider myself a type A personality in most things, however do try and keep things fun and light. I usually laugh, joke and giggle when the time is appropiate. I consider myself a team player and resource to others when trying to solve a problem. I love my job and enjoy working will my coworkers. A downfall is because of my type A, when I get worked up about something it takes me a while to cool off, I will stew about it for hours sometimes.

Boy that is a toughie. I never thought about the "type" of nurse that I am: I always hope to be caring, knowledgeable, competent....But in reality I......
use a lot of humor
know how to "read a patient" so that I know if I can play a wee bit silly or if I need to be uber professional
can get a patient to disclose just about anything to me (as long as it is related to his/her health, disease process etc) without their being aware I am doing an health assessment/interview
know when to say "I don't know"
know when to say "I need help"
know when to say "thank you"
know that I have made a difference in my patient's life especially when they tell me so!
I guess I am a mix type A type B personality. It takes an awful lot to **** me off or to hurt my feelings
I am loyal, to a fault (see above)
I have a hard time saying "NO"
I like being thought of as a resource person
I am a true-blue night person
I don't give myself enough credit

I'm like a Whack-a-Mole game... if a problem pops up, I hit it. Hard.
Slow to become flustered, but compared to a blur when there's lots to do.

i'm usually the type that counts down the clock until 7:30AM. i work minimally, and take low census always. when i am at work, i do my job. i pay attention to detail and do my job thoroughly and completely. i definitely treat it more like a job than a "calling," (which I find to be BS, by the way). i'm much more focused on my schooling than my job as a nurse.

I am good at getting my tasks done, but maybe lack in the....psychosocial support.
I stay jovial at work, try to remain upbeat. Dont think having me as another grump on the unit helps anything.
I try to be a team member by being flexible with schedules and not giving the charge a hard time when my assignment is not...ideal.
I get bored easy, need to feel as though I am growing/learning......not just going through the motions.
