What was in your opinion the hardest/worst class you've taken in nursing school (med-surg, peds, OB, fundamentals, geriatrics, etc.). What was the easiest? I'm a new student and only in the fundamentals so I can't answer but I'm just curious to know from some of your that are about finished or finished.

That's hard to say, because our classes aren't done separately. We just have Nursing I, Nursing II, Nursing III and Nursing IV, and we cover fundamentals and Med/Surg in all of the classes, in addition to various specific topics. The only exception to that is in third semester we have a separate Maternal/Infant, and in 4th we have a separate Psych.

Same here. We didn't have seperate classes, but jsut Nur 1, 2-5. I loved OB (I've always had a big interest in women's health). We're doing psych this semester, and I don't care for it at all. To each their own though... -A

Hardest Micro!! Easiest Psych (I love it)

In our program it seems to depend on who you ask. Most have told me psych an neuro, but others have said ped's and cardiac. I think it varies with the individual's interests. We have a group who are really struggling with family health and OB. I can find no one who cared for pharmacology. It was just an intense class, too much info in too little time.

I think that med/surg is difficult because I am studying for an exam right now and am freaking out because it seems to be so much stuff to remember

So far, Pharmacology. Our instructor told us that it doesn't get any easier after Pharm, but it also doesn't get any harder. I hope she's right. I don't think I can stand it to get any harder. :chuckle

sounds like my program. My hardest unit was cardiac. the different arrhythmias, the cardiac meds, the rhythm strips, etc. that was hard.

the easiest class that I had was ob! I loved it and I did really well on the NLN for that semester also. my least favorite was psych, I just could not get into it for some reason.

I think the hardest thing was fundamentals, but as far as the easiest, none of them! All of them are different and essential parts of the coursework. Now that said, I think the more you like or love a certain part of nursing like OB will play a huge part in how well you take in the information, but I don't think that its much easier. Its just not as gut wrenching to look through peds material (for me anyway) than acid/base and electrolytes

Well, if you're talking about BEFORE nursing school, I'd say Biochem. Pharm was a prereq for us, Micro and Psych as well, (unless you're talking about Psych nursing).

DURING nursing school I'd say the hardest was Cardio. Easiest? OB.

Oh, see, I loved cardiac!!! Acid base kicked my butt (whose didn't it!). -Andrea
