Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!

I agree. I do hate to always bring up Trump, but a lot of what we're seeing even today in low vaccination rates and consequently a new surge from a new variant stems from his poor leadership in politicizing a medical issue.

Honestly...it's important to talk very directly and bluntly about the dangerous and unpatriotic rhetoric of Trump...every day until he is no longer a threat to our republic. In the absence of that the GOP will gas light the public and rewrite current events as a propaganda narrative to promote Trump.

The GOP gaslights themselves much less everyone else!
How convenient or repressed possibly ignorant to forget that we are a nation founded by rejects, kicked out of Europe because they were so difficult and judgemental. So judgemental, that subsequent pilgrims kicked the original settlers out of their own homes and such hypocrites that they were judging the Indians who saved their lives! Any wonder they were kicked out of England, Holland etc?
However, we conveniently whitewash and spin our history to the point that even recent children of immigrants judge the current immigrants. Amazing!
Now the Insurrection was a tourist tour. Just an innocent hanging party. No violence there!
The GOP literally makes me sick, except for the fact that if their supporters weren't the ones encouraging their elected officials to lie to them, their politicians would tell the truth!
I find it incredibly difficult to trust anyone who sees the sky is blue and knows that I am also seeing the sky is blue, but is so delusional and out of touch with reality because of their surrounding circle supports any lie going, that they actually will try to convince me that the sky is green and then expects me to think that they are fine, upstanding people whom I should have as a next door neighbor and trust them!
We have to stop being polite and let them know we know that they are full of *** and are *** people. We see them for what they are. The alternative is what they are doing to the country now! But for a few brave souls and some luck, Trump could actually be in office and believe me 600k dead would be 1 million dead and a destroyed country!
Along those lines, it's amusing to see social conservatives endangering others with their vaccine concerns and then also whine about how they feel bullied when confronted with facts, truth and reality. I'm not inclined to be polite to save their feelings when they aren't participating in saving the country from a pandemic.
Democrats from Biden on down to congress have repeatedly called out Republicans and their shenanigans. I don't think they are being "polite" about it, but as I've said it's nice that they are being professional, with honesty and integrity on their side as they sling the mud.
But you don't get Republicans to vote against Republicans or go away or change by letting "them know we know that they are full of *** and are *** people. " That only emboldens them to act more foolish.
Lay people are far more vocal as well.

Doesn't seem to be working with Manchin or Sinema!

Maybe Biden can take to Twitter and make some sexist remark about her to belittle her, or make a slur about her being a bisexual.
Democrats are putting on the heat on her. She might not tow the line on every issue but she's been an advocate for women's right and the LGBT community. She's not a traitor to be vilified.
One really can't expect someone who represent states that went for Trump to be as progressive as we want them to be. They know who they're representing.
Maybe because I'm a centrist, I don't expect people to vote along progressive left ideas all the time. I rather like someone putting the brakes on them.
Over 2000 years ago Aristotle said 'that we were rational animals, pursuing knowledge for its own sake. We live by art and reason'.
Based on those comments, are republicans rational animals based on their recent behaviors? Are they pursuing knowledge? Insurrection.... Hearing? Investigation?
Do they live by reason?
Few would argue that if you don't pursue knowledge you could achieve the technical advantages we have today! Health care, communication, travel? Very few scientists are likely republicans or right leaning. They invite debate and love knowledge and right wing antivaxxers, religious believers are the opposite! So what exactly are they contributing to our development or society if they oppose development and knowledge?
I'm being very serious here. What are they contributing? They obviously oppose democracy by the gerrymandering and voter suppression etc and without a democratic process, this country is absolutely worthless!
How do you progress if you oppose knowledge 'creationism' anti evolution? Anti vaxxers? Misogyny, racism, authoritarianism, anti women's rights, anti gay LGBT, white supremacy etc etc. What's next? Salem style trials for fallen women? Hanging and beatings of minorities? This is exactly what Josh Hawley and Tom Cotten sound like. Louis Gomert, Steve King?
Think about it!

No, of course not. I'm so glad that you, and some of the other progressives in this forum have taken the time to point out just exactly what I am; a knuckle-dragging, ingnorant-a** redneck.
Thank you so much.

His leadership has been pro-business and anti-lockdown which is why even during the Summer surge of 2020 we stayed open and why he is saying today "Don't Fauci My State". We locked down for two months and opened up earlier than most states and stayed open.
However, the rise in covid cases is because of the unvaccinated and it's not like DeSantis isn't making the vaccine available and isn't promoting it.
However, I can agree his overall leadership in all of this has been poor from the start. His statement about leading the nation in infections was that no restrictions or mask mandates will happen, and that the old and vulnerable are protected and this is largely true. Boomers and elders and the ill are vaccinated at very high rates.
The mindset of not getting vaccinated I don't think is a choice people make because of him, but it does seem to be more of a Republican, conservative Christian, or somewhat crazy choice people make, particularly all over the south not just here in Florida.
