What was your starting LPN pay?

Published

Can someone help me out and tell me what the average LPN pay is for a nurse just starting?

K

Ok. I've just been reading one of the more popular older threads and I see that it really varies from $10/hr to $26/hr depending on location and experience. Any recent feedback is appreciated.

In my area three years ago it was $18-$20 an hour. Today it is $15-$17 an hour.

Hi. Can ask what area you are in?

OMG! That was a long time ago! $1.50 in 1968!

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

In February 2006 my starting pay rate as an LVN new grad in a Texas nursing home was $17.75 hourly. I still live in the same city, but nearly four years later my hourly rate at a different facility is $26 per hour.

I work 2 jobs, was offered several others, I'll give you what I make and what I was offered. I graduated Aug 2009, I'm in East TN.

Civilian hospital - PRN (no benefits) started at $17 hr base, $2.45 night diff, 7% acuity pay.

Western NC - VA Hospital, $16.55 base, 12% night diff, 25% weekend diff

Jobs offered:

Home health - $17 hr

LTC - $15 hr

Dr. Office - $10 hr

Not bad for East TN, not great if you live in a higher cost of living area.

Several years ago in the Washington DC area I started out at $23 an hour. PRN work at that time was paying about $28.
