What is that smell?

Published

Not asking for medical advice here!

I have a 16 yr old son. When I go into his room(when I feel brave) :uhoh3: there is this, smell, odor? I can't place it for the life of me. He is my only child so I have no comparison. IT is not BO or a sick smell. Just is there! Is this a teen boy thing? Maybe its his feet? He showere, deodorant and all(if anything he uses TOO much cologne etc...)

Just wondering!

Everyone has inherent smells. Girls enjoy and are culturally influenced to cover these up. For example: deoderant, perfume, shampoo, lotion, etc.

Sorry, but there is not a girl alive that used more products than my son! :chuckle

One son, two daughters and three younger brothers. Teen boys develop a funk odor that is hard to describe but an attempt might be a mouldy lime. Wet:chair: dogs smell better.

Yipppeeeeeeee! Something new to look forward to!:chuckle

My son uses those horrid AXE products. Think I would prefer BO to these. I finally put my foot down and said "no more".......you can use regular BAN or Mitchum like your dad and me. This stuff gives me migraines....

And yea, there is a "funk" if the kid does not shower every day. He is 13 and just entering puberty.

Okay all you moms of teenage boys: my son's growth was a bit delayed, saw the endocrinologist among many other specialists; when do boys usually start shaving? His dad (we lost him when my son was 9) was really hairy, son is not; he is nearly sixteen and has fuzz on his upper lip but nothing else.

That is sooooo variable. My first husband, bless his heart, didn't have to start shaving until he was about 22 and didn't have to shave but once in blue moon. Dh #2 has been shaving since he was about 16 and has to shave every other day or so. My uncles are hairy brutes that all started shaving when they were in their early teens (13?) and have to shave everyday or risk being whisked away as escapees from the wildlife preserve...

To me, genetics is one of God's greatest little jokes to himself. :lol2: I am ready for anything, my boys may be hairy beasts or smooth operators or anything in between.

At 16 I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you stress about it he really will!

Those Axe products! EEK. I thought only gave me headaches. Whatever it is, the Axe only intensifies the smell.

Again the smell is not horrible, just unusual.

You all cracked me up with your comments. I guess we are pretty lucky with this one. He only smells up the room hes in not the whole house:lol2:
