As I browse through job postings I sometimes see under Schedule: Short Hour. Instead of part-time, full-time or Per Diem. What is working short hour? Thanks!

Happy hour for short people?
I'd say it's either short notice short shift or basically fill in shifts when they're short.
I've always taken it as a flexible schedule job...very flexible. I think it's a local term specific to lingo likers!

It must be a local term because I have NEVER heard of it and I've been a nurse for about 15 years.

No clue here...better ask the person who writes your schedules.

I laughed when I read that one. I am kinda short (5'1") and I get the teasing a lot. (I can take it though and poke fun at myself a lot too.) So I really enjoyed that answer. Thanks for the laugh.
But I digress, I have never heard of short hour either.

When I moved here to Indianapolis, I kept hearing the term 'casual', in referring to per diem and agency nurses. Most of the time casual has applied to day laborers, not PROFESSIONAL people.
Never heard of 'short', though.

I just did an internet search for the term and apparently it is used to mean the same thing as a "part time" job.

In my area, short hours means that you are scheduled less than part time hours and are not eligible for benefits. This is to distinguish from on call where the hospital is not required to schedule for any hours.

at some places shortnhour means a short shift such as filling a 7p -11p 4 hour shift, basically your there to help during shift change.
