I'm currently in an MSN program and not in a DNP program, but it seems like a common complaint on these threads here are about how our classes are bunch of fluff. I really haven't found any classes to be "fluffy" so to speak in that I thought all of them were in some ways relevant to learning how to be a good NP. However, I was wonder if you guys can clarify what exactly do you mean your classes are fluff? I can't imagine them legally teaching something totally left field and unrelevant like particle physics or something in class that would waste your time.....
he probably ran 'way. I mean if you come on a nursing forum bashing doctors and pas and 9/10 people still disagree with you----> life evaluation required.
hopefully he will go onto SDN next and tout the same stuff he or she does on here.
its sort of like going to a trump rally dissing hillary and people start throwing rotten fruit at you, or vice versa. lmao

Oh good. Are we holding a Trump rally? Or anti Hillary rally. Either way I'm in. The first 27,000 pro Trump campaign buttons are on me.

yeah really. i'm a moderate but still would love to have trump as pres vs hillary haha. i voted obama in 2008 and feel like an awful citizen for doing so.

You are an awful citizen for doing so!
Shame on all you "spread it around" socialists.
Btw, for other readers the U.S. is NOT a democracy. It is a Republic. Google the difference. I really need a sign in my yard that states this.
I'm a conservative guy. Ward Clever for President!

oh don't worry, economically i hold the republican views. only things that make me a moderate would be environmental policies to an extent.
libertarian would be the way to go but heck a third party is just a vote for the other side unfortunately.
Hi! I am currently in an online post Master's DNP program and will graduate in May 2017. I definitely do not feel that the DNP classes in my program at UMASS Amherst are "fluff." I have worked so hard in all of the 14 or so classes that I have taken in this program: have read countless textbooks chapters, ebooks, scientific articles and have written so many scholarly posts and papers and project proposals! It has been a great program! :)

Fluff does not refer to ease as much as it refers to vapid, shallow, time consuming material that relates not to the practice of clinical health. You hit the nail on the head with "scholarly." Those of us who are anti DNP, as we currently know the degree, feel it should be less scholarly, more -ology, and more directly relevant to clinical matters. I dare not use the word "practice" because somehow it's a practice degree...no clue why or how.
just because somebody finds something difficult does not mean it is not fluff.
writing scholarly posts and papers is sort of the epitome of fluff also..... especially if the term "scholarly post" is used. How are discussion boards scholarly? because your paying tuition for them.. does that make them scholarly?
I have yet to hear the world scholarly or make a discussion post in medical school.
Unless its anatomy, physiology, pharm, micro, or directly related to diagnosing and treating illness, it is fluff, no matter how much the defenders of the current DNP try to refute that definition.
oh yeah and if i haven't made anybody angry yet. #trump2016

Because we reference our work with peer reviewed sources. That is what makes them scholarly. It is unfortunate you do not see the value in my education, but that's ok. I see the value and that's all that matters to me. I refuse to let your negative comments and opinions upset me.
Perhaps you should consider going to medical school, as I see how highly you speak of it. I admire physicians with regards to their knowledge and experience but as a nurse I also value our doctorate programs too for different reasons. Especially because I am actually in a doctorate program so I know what I am talking about. Many people with negative comments on the DNP program are not actually in doctorate programs so how on earth would you know what you are taking about? Very sad. And if you don't like the dnp programs?? Then fine, don't be in one. But don't bad mouth them for those of us who believe in them. I will never understand why some in our profession feel it is ok to do this.

If you are any DNP then fine, just don't apply to any DNP program. I don't think it's right to bash a program you are not even in especially for those of us working hard like me who are in a DNP program. I have no problem with someone choosing not to be in a DNP program but stop bashing them for your colleagues who believe in them.

I really wanted to go to the improv last night but just couldn't make it work. Your posts made it OK though.
On to more serious matters...what happened to the OP?
