i have always heard you remove top to bottom (cap, goggles, mask, gown then gloves). i'm seeing some conflicting answers.

Here is the latest from the CDC. Gloves go off first.

It used to be gloves off last, but after SARS that changed when they found that method was causing further contamination of a HCW's clothing, skin, and hair.

The reason we remove the gloves first is that you dont want to contaminate your face with dirty gloves.

Ok so I went ahead and checked in my book the order of donning the PPE and here is what is says;first mask, then gown then then protective eyewear, then gloves! Here is the sequence to remove the entire PPE;1.Untie the gowns waist ties,2.remove and dispose your gloves.3.wash your hands.4.Remove and dispose of the mask.5.Untie the gowns neck ties and loosen the gown's neck ties, remove and dispose the the gown.6.Remove the protective eyewear.Wash your hands.

It doesn't make sense to me either. What if you have body fluids on you gown and you take you gloves off first your touching everyting else. I know you can't change anything. It just doesn't make sense.

But majority of the time nurses touch everything with their hands so to me it makes perfect sense. And also gloves are considered the most contaminated, anyway I personally would not touch my face with dirty gloves,I would remove my gloves, wash my hands and then remove everything else.

Oh ok I see my confusion now I thought that you were talking about the donning the PPE instead of removing it.

Anyway guys do you go by CDC guidelines or your textbook,I found in my textbook that first you suppose to remove your gloves, mask, wash hands, gown and then googles, according to CDC you suppose to remove your gloves first then googles, then gown then mask, this differences drives me crazy, seriously
