What does nursing have to do with politics.

Published

I know of a few issues such as the 4 year degrees, mandatory overtime and end of life issues. Seem to be stumped on on others things. Any suggestions.

Politics affect every aspect of our lives whether we are nurses, teachers, grocery clerks, etc...

Politics affect our economy.

Any examples as to how nursing is affected?

Financial reimbursement. Medicare, Medicaid.

Funding for grants for students

Lic. Costs.

The list is endless. Anything that gets voted on, local, regional, national is a good start. Remember the old adage... All politics are local.:coollook:

And if it is a homework assignment. How in the heck did those of us get our homework done without the use of internet? lol..... hmmm

Perhaps we benefitted by not having it. Made us get out and research the hard way.

ok,,, the web has since helped me alot in keeping informed.

I have to quit these tangents that come to mind as I read posts.lol

Why not do your homework by asking people online for imput? The assignment sounds like a typical fluff type assignment, I think there's more of that in nursing programs today, rather than concentrating on the nuts and bolts.

Jlsrn,

I do not necessarily think that asking online is wrong. I do feel more complete answers are given in person though. I use to love doing that in school. That verbal interaction, and the ability to more fully understand someone else's point of view is missed just by putting up a thread, Yes , I do believe we are able to read some very interesting topics and learn from them. I love reading. Just not the same as dialog though between people. Just my own opinion.

Forums are just one of many avenue to explore.

Hot button issue is national health care or no. Abortion is another issue. Geriatric care is another. All these issues are areas where nurses have a better basis in regards to education than many other voters.

Ask the governor out in California. He considers us a special interest group.
