just thought this may be a fun topic to ask everyone
what nursing gear do you personally own? do you have multiple stethoscopes? bp cuffs? otoscopes? ophthalmoscopes?
fess up :)
penlight, two black pens, small pocket size notebook, my blackberry with nursing references on it (Pepid CC Suite) steth, hemostat, bandage scissors, alcohol wipes, tape, acls/pals cards, my RN notes or Medsurg Notes spiral references (usually in my tote bag) and nursing journals for downtime! oh and my babyG ditital watch :)
I have an adult BP cuff, automatic wrist BP machine, stethoscope, bandage scissors, temporal thermometer, 2 penlights, flash light (the one that fits on my head), it helps when I need to insert a Foley and I need both hands. Various black-ink pens, highlighters, red-ink pens, sharpies, hand sanitizers, LPN pocket guides, and "Charting Made Incredibley Easy" pocket guide. I'm always looking for the latest gadgets.
HiI am waiting to get into a Nursing Program. Meanwhile I am taking a First Responder Class. We are learning to take Blood Pressures. I have a question about watches.: ) . I would like to get one that I will use in Nursing School and I am not sure if it is better to have one with a "sweep" second hand or the one that you can see click away one second at a time. I was thinking it might be easier to read the BP if I wasn't distracted watching the second hand on the type that ticks one at a time. Sometimes it's like you start to count the ticks on the watch instead of the sounds of the heart.
hmm im also confused of this post you dont need a watch to use the spygmomanometer?
I wanted to know if anyone had a PDA that they use regularly on their job. As a 2 year student its seems like almost eveyone had one and in my BSn program hardly anyone used them and now I'm about to enter a FNP program and I was wondering if anyone owned one and what programs would you suggest if you own one. Thanks.

My school required that we get a watch with a sweep second hand. The clicking can be distracting and you may find yourself counting the clicks instead of listening for the taps.
