Hello! I am new to AN. I am an eager student who is ready to learn, and I am starting nursing school next year. I currently work in a clinic, and have always wanted to know what do NP's wear? Do they bring a brief case to work? Whats the contents of it? I am just so excited. I hope to be a NP in the future.
Thanks, enjoy your Saturday!
I'm a psychiatry NP.I loathe scrubs and want to distance myself from them as much as I can. I wear business attire, business casual, dark jeans once in a while, etc.
I do not carry a briefcase. Rather, I have a Vanquest Trident 20 with my personal tablet (for engaging in personal affairs) and other EDC items. I looked at Saddleback leather goods for a long time, but Vanquest fits my daily needs rather than having to unpack/repack.
I work in an office and do not have exam rooms, etc. I try to keep it business-like rather than clinical.
Now secretly crushing on PsychGuy
We have a handsome local doc who has two NP's on staff. They literally follow him around and get his coffee etc. in between doing the bulk of his work. Spandex skirts, cleavage out and six inch heels that lace up the leg. Everyone calls them his backup dancers. I feel embarassed for them.

I feel embarrassed for us all. There has to be a happy medium between this and what I have historically seen in my area the disheveled, frumpy middle aged women wearing prairie skirts with knee socks and birkenstocks.

I tried putting "1-2yrs backup dancer experience" in my last job posting but no qualified candidates.
I worked in an ED where the docs wore tight scrubs or "Smedium" T-shirts and of course they were all young and crossfit junkies. They would even pose for some of the nurses. It was a sight....
The absolute worst workout for you.
How do you get a tight scrub shirt on. My arm span is at least 6'3" and I can't fold them up enough to put on a loosely fitting scrub shirt.

Sounds like a fun place to work count me in!
Business dress in the fall/winter/spring, business-casual in the summer.
If you are thinking of becoming an NP, try to find some to shadow.
