Is that really a nursing home and not an assissted living facility? If so, that sounds awesome for residents and employee's. I am jealous! I want to work there! Im glad you found a place like that to work. Wouldn't it be great if the pay, PTO, benefits and treatment of employees was great, too? Let us know how it works out for you after you start!
I can't answer for luvmy2angels, but the facility in our area is a skilled nursing facility which is arranged into "households". I don't remember the exact number of residents per household, but they all have private rooms with private baths, share a tub room, eat together in a household kitchen/dining room, share a common rec room, etc. There is a small group of nursing personnel assigned to each household per shift, including RN, CNA's and CMA's (one of my concerns with this facility). The facility itself is very homelike and appealing.
I work on call for a place similar to yours. But minus the staff. I would love to have the staff ration you have. We have 3 areas on each floor. On days they have 2 nurses and 2-3 aides, on nocs they have 1 nurse and 1 aide. There is 30 pts on total on each floor. The concept is good, and the place is beautiful, but staffing is really really bad

I must tell you all that I have gone from pure HE** to absolute heaven!! Aside from the horrible physical we had to go through this new job is absolutley the most awesome job I could have asked for. Does anyone else in LTC work in a place where they don't have "units" but households?? Everything is patient centered. There is no nurses station, there is a team room where we can do charting and such, but there is also no med cart. Everything is kept in the patient room. Each room is private and has their own bathroom complete with shower, eah household has a huge living room and kitchen where a homemaker will make supper (thought being that smells increase appetite), we have porches the residents can go out on. I just can't say enough about it!! THe best part...There are only 16 residents in each house!! There will be one LPN and 2 CNAs. That is a great ratio!! I won't be stuck just passing meds...I will actually have time to interact and enjoy our residents. I think it will give me more time to assess and monitor our residents as well!! I am just soooooo excited! Having been at a hospital where the LPNs were treated like garbage to a place were we are treated with great respect and our opinions and thoughts actually matter!! What a world of difference!! I just wanted to share something positive for a change!!
