Here is my most gross, yucky, disgusting nursing story!
Updated:
I was working a night shift on a tele floor as a new Nurse.
We had this one poor old lady who was confused and was restrained as usual for her safety. She was our designated resident nightmare geri from hell, so she was placed near the Nurse's station.
So we are chilling out at the Nurse's station, chatting and trying to get through another night...
Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I see our lady in question standing in the dimly lit doorway of her room!
I instantly leap out and run to her. As I approach her, she appears to be falling towards me, so I meet her in a bear hug...my arms around her waste, and her arms around my shoulders.
As I catch the lady, I notice a very strong smell of feces, and I feel something warm on my hands, arms and shoulders...
My fellow heroes come in behind me, and as the lights are turned on, my worst fears are instantly realized.
Yes, I caught the poor old lady with a good old bear hung football catch, but I was also covered in the lady's feces.
As I look at her, she has feces smeared all over her arms and hands... (and even her face!)
And of course, now so did I!

Please, no NETY. Her post was confusing. I am a dog owner but it wasn't straight forward as this is AllNurses.

Leonca said:Sorry. I knew there were a few other vet techs here, so I didn't realize it might be confusing.
I wouldn't swear to it, but it sounds like they were just having a bit of fun with your post. It was a pretty easy target. I'm sure nobody meant nuthin'
I work in LTC. We had a husband/wife couple who still engaged in "extracurricular activities". They were known to do this quite often (and, as I found out afterwards, they don't care who sees them). I had obtained an order for a UA per I/O cath for the wife d/t increased confusion and behaviors. Myself, 2 other nurses, and a CNA entered the room to obtain the UA. I knocked on the door several times and heard a voice say "come in". As we entered the room and walked towards the bed I tripped on the bedside table. In an effort to catch myself I grabbed the privacy curtain which proceeded to come off the tracks which resulted in me flying into bed with the naked couple. Worst thing was, as I was scurrying to get out of the bed I placed my bare hand in a puddle of warm, slimy goo. All of this witnessed by the 2 other nurses and CNA. That was 9 years ago and I still get crap to this day about being the third wheel in their relationship. Needless to say my hand were almost raw by the end of the day from washing them and applying hand sanitizer. I still wash my hands every time someone brings it up.
Not really so gross but funny...
When I was working in a nursing home I had a lady who would sway back in forth in the hoyer lift intentionally to try and get a rise out of aides. I told her if she didn't stop she was going to fall and that I wouldn't be able to catch her when she did. So she stopped, still slowly swaying slowly to a stop, looked me right in the eyes and defecated. Lucky for me it was a hoyer sling with a convenient hole cut out for toileting assists. Still love that woman she's got some serious sass.
