What are the most important things i need to review about Anatomy and Physiology..

Published

Good day to everyone!

What are the things needed to review about Anatomy and Physiology?..

I am really curious about these subjects because i will be taking it next semester.

I would like to start reading in advance to lessen my pressure about these. hehehe

what are the things you could share about, important facts or topics, and ideas to help me find a way to study those hard subjects..:icon_roll

I will be very glad to hear your replies.

Thanks for reading!;)

Kudos to everyone! :D

Its difficult to nail down specific things to review about A&P due to the wide variety of topics covered. Anatomy is just that and it involves a lot of rote memorization, not really a lot of ways around it. The biggest thing that helps many students is to scour the web for mnemonics to help memorization. Flashcards and coloring books were popular with my class.

I personally felt physiology was the easier part. My only advice is to try and "connect the pieces". While your studying take a step back and see how everything fits into the larger picture. For example don't just memorize what part of the renal tubal adsorbs what, but try and ask yourself why its important to know why the renal tubal works. This is the fun part of nursing. Really pay attention on fluid and lytes. Despite what everyone says it is NOT that hard. It the basic law of disfusion and balancing of charges. A solid understanding of fluid and lyte balance will carry you a LONG way through Med Surge, really focus on this part in A&P.

To get ready pic up an anatomy coloring book (sounds funny, but its great, required homework in my class!!) and make some flashcards over the summer. Read up on fluid and lytes, a strong understanding will help really understand how all the systems work together.

Wow. I am overwhelmed with you both :D Thank you thank you :) for sharing..

this will help me push forward. thanks for the guidance MesaRN and Daytonite. great help! indeed.

The most important thing about A&P?

I would have to say learn it well and give it your all, because there isn't enough time in nursing school for more than a quick refresher when tackling the copious reading.

They assume you know it and you'll have more important (or at least different) priorities that need your immediate attention.

For review, I would have loved to have had a better grasp of biology on a cellular level entering A&P.

THANK YOU :).. Actually, I am browsing all the sites that I got from the NURSING STUDENT ASSISTANCE FORUM about Anatomy, Physiology, Pathophysiology, Biology..now..

I was reading and reviewing all about CELLS again to refreshen me up.

From the month of April and May is my summer month. I have no classes. and Next semester is my second year already. I think I will be having Anatomy and Physiology listed in my line of subjects. Thats why Im scanning or somewhat trying to understand it by myself the topics i will be encountering.

Is it okay reading all the stuffs here in the internet rather than reading the books?..

Right now, somehow, it might be okay because I haven't bought my supplies for the next sem. yet.

Thank you for your reply :D

I did the same thing just to see what I was getting into. As a matter of fact, that's how I found allnurses.com.

If you're really motivated and want something to do, get a book on introduction to chemistry (if that's an area you don't have much experience in) and study up on cell biology. You'll thank me when you get to the Krebs cycle and fluids & electrolytes.

CHEMISTRY?

Will I be encountering the naming of compounds there?.. the meta, blah blah?..

Cell Biology. I got it. hmmn.,.. I will find a book. thanks again :D

No heavy chem! And that was only if your experience was limited like my own. Good luck and I know you will succeed!

found those a long time ago. that is addressed on some of the chenistry websites. the chemistry weblinks are posted on post #49 of https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/pathophysiology-p-microbiology-145201.html - pathophysiology/ a & p/ microbiology/ fluid & electrolyte resources

Check and see if you can get your syllabus early. My instructor would post our syllabus and the class notes for us, detailing exactly what we were to know.

And I cannot stress this enough -- don't buy flashcards, make your own. I learned the most, and it stuck, by making my own flashcards. I used Google Images a TON...for pictures of the brain, bones, etc...
