What you get for nurses week

Published

I just found out that Cinnabon is giving nurses a free cinnabon for nurses week. Just what my plump and juicy butt needs... :yeah:

In clinical today, they had sandwiches for the nurses....that Cinnabon sounded pretty good.....

NOTHING

not even a mention that it's nurses week

I baked a cake 1 day and did groundbeef, cheese, rotel dip and chips another day

I got a card from my all non-nursing co-workers. It was sweet for them to think of me!

We got a tote bag (w/ required logo) from the hospital, and RN magazine subscriptions from our nursing supervisor and manager. And the hospital is doing luncheons on each campus for each shift. ours is tomorrow night.

We got a carnival in our parking lot (I'm serious!!) with food and games, things for the family. And one of those folding chairs.:yeah:

We were lucky enough to have a pamper day at work for nurses day today! massage, aromatherapy, facials, tarot reading and lots more.

We had a chicken and champaign breakfast plus lots of yummy cakes.

It was very much appreciated by all nursing staff.. what a fun day!:yeah:

The most I recieved for Nurses Week was "nothing". To sit down and LISTEN to a patient empty her worries during the night and relieve her of her fears... the word.... "Thank You"...Priceless!:D

Our hospital had a one-day "celebration" which consisted of food from our cafeteria, chair massages and a few booths of people trying to sell things such as botox. Everyone received a small wooden picture frame as well that said "thanks for all you do," "you are valued," blah blah blah.

On a side note, I won one of the "door prizes" which consisted of a box of 5 (yes, only 5) chocolates that looked to be at least a year old. The chocolate was all dried out and looked like crusted mud. It was beyond disgusting.

"Thanks for all you do!" Yeah, sure thing.....

NOTHING AT ALL!!! Our hospital management doesn't seem to value us as nurses so I took matters into my own hands. I bought every employee on my unit (48 of them -NOT including the nurse manager) $5 dollar gift cards to starbucks and a Private movie screening of "Baby Mama" for this friday and saturday.

Hey Beccazn,

Thanks Great!

I was part of a Nurse's Week Committee. We had a week long celebration at my facility. We received a little coupons to receive a goody from the cafeteria each day of the week that are good through the end of this week. On Wednesday we had a special lunch/dinner that the committee helped plan. It was in the cafeteria but the Leadership Team served it to us and it was really good. We had a fun raffle all week, the baskets to be given for the raffle were all made by the Unit managers form all over the hospital. And we had a special Recognition Ceremony for those that have graduated through the year or received national certifications.

It was very exciting and exhausting to put all together and work my floor as well but my manager was great :yeah:about allowing me to do it.

Specializes in PCP group.

I work for a private practice PCP group. This year they gave all the nurses a voucher for a paid day off of our choice. Much nicer than the tote bag with our logo given last year.
