What have you found in your pockets at the end of your shift?

Published

-A barrette

-A hearing aid

-numerous pens

-alcohol wipes

-a bottle of shaving gel

-a lighter

-couple pairs of gloves

-spoons

-forks

-a cigarette :smokin:

-piece of paper with a number that I have no idea who/what it was to

I once stepped into a bedpan of LGIB. Slipper socks with disposable shoe covers over them did the trick. There was no way in heck I could wear those shoes and into the hospital hazardous waste they went.

What is LGIB?

One of my friends at clinical had ice in her pockets and was wondering why she was dripping all day :)

Unfortunately I haven't found anything interesting in my pockets but I did find a pair of panties (clean) that were stuck in one leg of my scrubs. Luckily they fell out on the floor in the breakroom before the shift started. That could have been a little awkward to have panties fall out in the middle of the unit in front of god and everyone. The hazards of getting dressed in the dark.

I only come home from work w/ boring stuff in my pockets:

alcohol preps

thermometer sheaths (used)

gum

loose change

pens

paper clips

scrpas of paper w/ notes on them:)

I don't know how in the world you guys end up with hearing aides and used thermometer sheaths in your pockets. LOL!

I usually just find tons of alcohol prep pads, a pen (and sometimes a coworker's pen), dry erase marker, saline flushes, etc...

Once I found the keys and wireless phone when I got to my car and had to walk all the way back in (a good 15-minute walk) to give them back.

I've gotten to where I empty my pockets before leaving the nurse's station.

The weirdest thing, probably graham crackers and a juice cup...was going to be a midnight snack that got too busy for and forgot about. At the start of my shift I once went into a patients room with my sunglassses on and my purse over my shoulder, clearly I was rushed that day. :o

....the usual suspects are alcohol wipes, normal saline bullets, and the almighty neb treatments. most interesting thing was finding the cell phone number a female coworker slipped into my pocket!

As a Medical Assistant, I come home with empty vaccine bottles, b-12 bottles, rochepin, and other meds (empty). Bandage dressings....boring clinical stuff.

But when I was a tech in the ER...it was crazy the things I had. Once I found a 2x2 gauze soaked in blood. Must have been during a trauma or something it leaning over the patient and it ended up in my pocket..gross. I've def had the blood in my shoes, brain matter on them, and the occasional LGIB. I went through many shoes working as a trauma tech.

About 45 of those blue rubber stoppers on bags of NS! And I never notice until they show up in the dryer LOL
