What to expect in my first semester in nursing school?

I will be entering into the nursing program on Sept. I'm very excited to start since I find it medicine as well as the way it affects the body very interesting. I'm also tired of having a dead end job.

I already bought the books asked from me for the program, downloaded many of the NCLEX apps onto my phone, bought a subscription on a pharmacology site, and started going over these already. I also have passed anatomy and physiology with A's. I keep hearing how intense the nursing program is so I would like to be ready for this. WHat can I expect on my first semester in the nursing program? What do they teach exactly? What would they test you? What would I expect in my clinicals (I was told we are going to be having clinicals on our first semester)? I want to pass everything on my first try and keep a 3.5 gpa.

Thank you for your advice and experiences in advance. I look forward to the program.

First semester? Depends on your school. Some schools might ease you into things? ;) Honestly, expect to study for hours... try to make some friends for study groups if you learn better that way.. expect a group project that makes you doubt your faith in humanity... try to keep a sense of humor about it all and good luck. :)

Thanks. Sorry about that.

They will ask you questions in a way that make you think you're an idiot, but in the end you appreciate it because the goal is to become a critical thinker and pass NCLEX. You will think that you were a critical thinker but they will prove to you that you weren't and just walked the earth like a baboon. In all seriousness learn and absorb the material and be able to apply it. The why is important. Prioritization is most important and the best tip of all if the answer to a question is hand hygiene pick it.
