What is everyone taking this fall?

Nursing Students General Students

Published

I will be taking NUR 110 fundamentals of nursing I & NUR 115intro to pharmacology. 8 hours total.:)

Health Assessment/Clinical Reasoning with Lab

Basic Nursing Concepts with lab and clinicals

10 credits total

Specializes in OB, lactation.

I will be taking some kind of intro class (new this year; this is my second year but this class replaces other classes that I would have taken...sort of hard to explain)... the clinical part will reinforce the Assessment class that I took last fall as a part-timer (the new students will be taking it concurrently). Clear?

I am also taking a distance Lactation class for my nursing elective.

I may take Forensic Psychology (which I am interested in, but it won't count for my degree) so that I can have enough credits at my school to get financial aid, or a class that actually counts toward my degree if my advisor will put me in over the limit. Or I may just take the two and try to make it till January on what I've got leftover from this year.

I'm finishing up my last pre-reqs this year. Ethics and Nutrition for the fall. 8 credits should be plenty, since I'm having a baby in a month or so.

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

udent, wife&mom]i will be taking nur 110 fundamentals of nursing i & nur 115intro to pharmacology. 8 hours total.:)

I have 17 credit hours this fall, the first semester of my nursing course, consisting of:

Pharmacology Calculations,

Nursing Concepts & Skills I,

Nursing Concepts & Skills II,

Concepts of Pharmacology,

Concepts of Gerontology,

Nursing Care of Children,

Clinical II (6 to 8 hours, twice a week plus pediatrics week of 30 hrs clinicals)

Health & Physical Assessment.

Thankfully those 17 credit hours are divided up into two bi-semesters LOL!

Paint.

I'm taking:

Ob/Peds (5)

Skills Lab (1)

Clinical (4)

Luckily, I took all my non-nursing courses b4 starting or I would also be taking Micro and Speech.

I'm just going to take my clinicals...this Fall is clinical 1, and that is IT!! I am done with all my pre-reqs this summer (Microbiology, I am taking now) Yahooooooo Magoooooo!!!

Fatima,

Thank you so much so few people appreciate my comedy! Where are you going to school? I'm in NJ tooo.

Wow....I can't believe I'm officially a nursing student.... :) I registered for Microbiology (4 cr.) and Pharmacology (3cr.) during early registration. My Nursing 107 (6 cr.) consists of 4 classes...Lecture, Laboratory, Tutorial and Clinical. These happen one day a week. And I have to take Medical Mathematics (1 cr.) as a co-requisite. I'm starting to think that taking 14 credits is a bit much for a first semester nursing student. What do you all think? Maybe I should drop Pharmacology until the second semester. I don't have any other courses to take being that I've taken all of my pre-req's...maybe I should just take a P.E. course or something, so I won't fall under full-time status.

Fatima

the way I understand it is this, after they abuse us and wear us down enough we ARE the clinical for the 2nd semester nurses.

Only, kidding, this program doesn't start clinical till 2nd semester. But 2nd semester is worse. It's 19 credits plus clinicals.

Yup the next time you see someone being abused and they like it and ask for more just call out Bogeydog is that you?!!!

Bogeydog

LOL, dying with dignity? With that kind of load, you'll be a pro at that without the class! You doing clinicals on top of all this too?!

For me: Nursing fundamentals (9 credits) and a stupid speech class because this college insists I take Speech 219... the Speech 218 I took for the other college's nursing program is just not good enough! :angryfire

Oh, hey, no I'm not bitter. :chuckle

I took Pathophys and Nursing Concepts and THeories along with my pre-reqs Sp

.'04. So, I will only have Pharmac, Health Assessment, and Nursing COmpetancies for Fall '04=13 hrs.

Fundamentals

Dosgae Calculations

Parent/Child nursing

Med/Surg

Pharmacology I

Community Health

Clinicals 2 days week

The Dosage calc is only a 10 week course, one hour once a week, fundamentals is only once a week for 3 hours, so it's not as bad as it looks. Other than clinical days I'm never home later than 2:30

I'll be attending Essex County College in Newark, N.J. I was accepted into UCC/Trinitas School of nursing in Union, N.J. But I"m going to attend my ECC...it's much more affordable.
