I'm just curious.. what do/did you find most challenging in this class?
For me it was learning all the nooks and crannies of the different bones as far as anatomy goes and muscles as far as physiology goes!

I'm odd but, I HATED the anatomy/lab portion. My school was very disorganized about it (outdated keys, sometimes NO keys, missing parts, no open lab to study, etc.). I was much more efficient with physiology and my grades reflected that. Muscles was the worst. Half my class dropped after that exam...
It was bad because my instructor was a psychopath and had us learn the action, origin, and insertion for approx. 80 muscles in about two weeks time. It was a disaster. She later admitted it was more than we needed to know. You think I remember diddly squat about muscles a year later? HELL NO.

Those were the most difficult for me too.

The hardest thing for me about A&P was the fear of the class! I heard so many stories about how difficult it was that it was hard to convince myself that I would be able to do it! Once the class started, I realized it was a lot of work but not impossible.
As far as actual course content, muscles and bones were my weakness, too. I think the sheer volume of information in a shortened time frame (I took it as a 5 week summer school course) made it difficult to remember and retain all of the pieces and parts.

I'm with Christina23 on this one, I was SO scared of this class! My "hardest part" was the memorization of it all. I'm pulling an A in the class tho, so it's not THAT bad.

Those two ( midwife and Christina ) nailed it for me. I had spent alot of time on here before taking my A&P classes and they scared me a bit. It was to the point that I was in awe of students that told me about their A's and I even began to calculate my GPA with getting B's in A&P. However once I got into the class, I found it wasn't any worse than any other class.

I agree with everyone i had to retake the class to get an understanding but in all it really was a learning experience because med surg was able to breakdown what i did not understand and clinical settings the vision finally opened my eyes

While the bones and muscles was a challenge, the physiology of the brain was most difficult for me. The brain does so many things, and we still haven't fully unravelled it. And I'm kinda glad we haven't because that would have meant more studying for this complex organ.

I, too, was anxious about the quantity of material (bones & muscles) that had to be memorized. I made flash cards for everything! I copied (in color) all key pictures and diagrams, cut them apart, and pasted them to either index cards or file folders. I found them to be quite helpful -

I have to agree with Jody7818. I certainly found the brain physiology very confusing and requires a good understanding. I have my final this Saturday (this subject only) and I'm pretty scared. Our professor gave us a power point with 105 slides to study for this test. Gladly I have an A on the class and even getting a C on the final I'll be able to finish the class with an A. Thanks God :grn:
