What did you do differently to pass the 2nd time around?

Published

I took the NCLEX and got all 265 questions several months ago by studying Saunders. This time around I plan on taking Kaplan and continuing to review the Saunders material. I feel really anxious about taking the test again. What would help is to know (if you failed the first time but passed the second time around) is what you did differently? How many hours a day did you prepare for the test? Did you use several NCLEX review books?

i also had all 265 questions my first time. so then i did the ncsbn online review and used saunders 4th edition. i was so nervous the first time i truly believe that i psyched myself out of it. the second time i took it was completely different. i went in there telling myself that i was going to pass! when the computer shut off at 75 i knew i had passed, and i did. you made it thru nursing school, you know the material. you can do it!:)

hi i failed my nclex exam the first time and it took me months to realize the result finally sink in to my mind. I am planning to take the exam again the second time around i am a little bit confuse about the how much will i pay for the retake, is one ATT good for one exam only? which means do i need another ATT to be able to schedule another exam and are they going to extend the validity of my ATT as well? ive been to kaplan review center and it really helps me alot but unfortunately my 1 year old son got sick and i have to monitor him almost 4 am in the morning because he reaches temperature of 40...i didnt get enough sleep and my schedule exam is 9am and its too late for me already to rescheduled it.....would saunders review books really helps? im a bit confused...and also i registeredfor the exam using my surname before getting married and now that i am married what will i do to change my surname to their record? do i need to pay again for that??? pls kindly help me=) thanks so much

The first time I took the exam, i had 75 items and failed because I know in me that i didn't exert enough effort on my review so the next time i test, i had all the 265 questions and did passed because GOD knows how eager i am but it was never easy for me to balance my work and review.

I advice everyone who will be taking the exam to review, review and review also focus, focus and focus.

Try Suzanne's plan because it worked for me.

The first time I had 265 questions used only Saunders. Second time I went to a review course and did NCSBN learning extension and passed with 75 questions.

N O B O D Y will answer my question. ive asked on like three different forums. im just about to start nursing school, and i want to know why there are different amounts of questions on the tests. this one girl said she had 110, then i seen somebody with 75, 265 etc. why is that.

Suzanne's right, we need only one reference, me I prefer Saunder's 4th edition and used La Charity on prioritization.

NCLEX is a CAT exam,it has different number of sets of questions because it automatically stops as soon as the computer determined your ability if it is above or below the passing standard.

oh, so the higher the number means that you aren't doing as well or what?

You will need to, in most cases, complete a form for BON/BRN pay a small fee and they will make sure you are still eligibly. You then need to apply to pearsonvue and pay fees and they once OK'd by BON/BRN will issue another ATT. Each ATT is only valid for 1 time. If you have gotten married and have no ID in your maiden name that is accepted by the test center then just let the BON know of change of name. Otherwise wait until you have passed NCLEX and then inform BON/BRN of change of name

If taking the RN exam then you are asked anything from 75 to 265 questions and can pass or fail with any number. If taking the PN exam then the numbers vary from 85 to 205. As mentioned the exam is a CAT and that will determine on when you meet the standards. The NSCBN website is a good one to read about NCLEX
