Hi! I finished my pre-reqs and was accepted into my school's nursing program starting this fall! Yeah!:) My school requests us to have a Littman Classic II SE stethoscope. I've read on here and have been told that stethoscopes can be stolen quite frequently while in school and at clinical sites so I'm trying to find out what the most common colors are so that I can buy an uncommon color to try to prevent mine from "walking". I also plan to take the advice I've read on here and have mine engraved. medisave.net seems to have the best prices I've seen so far...any other advice from the professionals I'm so grateful to have access to??? Thank you so much everyone!:heartbeat:nurse:
Thanks for all the replies guys this is great! I love the stories about them walking away and reappearing! Apparently Dr.'s have sticky fingers but it seems their collections do get returned eventually! Pretty funny! I think it seems color isn't the issue to stand out so much as personalizing and not laying it around for sticky fingers to get at it! Tha is so much!
Actually, this is very true about the Doctors...NEVER let a doctor "borrow" your Littman....you will never see it again....it's better to say, while scratching viciously at your neck, "oh sure Doctor, I would love to lend you my scope, just let me get the Lysol...this pesky rash is just about cleared up, you know, my Dermatologist was never able to diagnose it, but he doesn't think it's contagious"....and see if that works:D

hmmmm intersting
i wonder why the ear pieces where just missing
There are two types of ear pieces scopes come with...the soft and the hard. I always used the hard. It's possible that the person who took the ear pieces lost theirs and did not want to just buy them...I think most people preferred the soft-at least that's what it seemed. That's a pretty dirty trick...but it's cheaper than replacing the whole scope.

I once left my stetescope on the unit and when I came back the next day - the ear pieces were missing.
