  1. Bueller, Bueller....anyone have any information? lol!
  2. Hi! I am looking to relocate from southern NJ by Philadelphia to the St. Augustine, Florida area. I have about 1 1/2 years emergency department experience...anyone have an idea of how much I can expect salary wise? I have my associates degree and will have my BSN completed by October of this year. I also have BLS, ACLS & PALS. I know I won't get paid as much as I currently am, but I'm afraid the pay cut might be more than my family can handle. I've spoken with a few HR departments in the area in Florida but salary was only discussed at one so far and it was substantially lower so I am looking to see what the areas average pay is. Any information is appreciated. Thank you!
  3. I got the ER job!!!!! I'm soooooooo excited!! Thanks for the advice everyone!!
  4. Congrats and best of luck to you!!! How exciting!!! I'm a new grad and have an interview for an ER position tomorrow...any tips?
  5. Good luck with the NP!!! I agree, it makes no sense at all that they assist you in obtaining an NP but then don't guarantee a position. You'd think they would want to get their money back with you working for them!! Odd indeed!
  6. Thank you for such a great post!!! I have a lot of that on my list of things to say/ask and a lot I didn't but will add right now!! When I spoke to someone earlier that has worked for this hospital I said pretty much what you said I should say...that I know enough to know that I don't know everything. I know I am a blank slate for them, I have no bad habits and can be trained exactly how they want me to be trained and I know I will literally work nonstop until I am the best I can be at my job. Thank you so much for your post! :0)
  7. I'm surprised they don't institute a work requirement being they're having a problem. I'm paying out of pocket for my education now so I would hope that would simply convey my desire to further myself and not that I am looking for a hospital to foot the bill. I genuinely want this position for the right reasons, because I want to work in the ER. I also am genuinely continuing my education because I want to better myself as an RN. I hope if I am asked these types of questions that I convey it properly. Thank you for your post!!
  8. Yes, I've done my homework and know what type of ER they are and their usual pt. Definitely doing my homework! I was able to speak with someone who used to work in that same hospital today who also advised not mentioning any plans of education beyond the RN-BSN I am currently enrolled in. Rationale being that I am furthering the nurse that I already am with the BSN but any potential plans for an NP would mean I am looking to get out of the position I am applying for, which makes sense the way she said it to me for sure. My interview is tomorrow and I'm excited, yet nervous! Thank you for your post!!
  9. Makes total sense, thank you! I'm in an RN-BSN program already like I mentioned and it's on my resume but I won't bring it up unless they ask me for sure!! Thank you!!
  10. I am a new graduate and I have an interview for an ER position this week that I REALLY want to get. What questions should I ask and what are some things I should say to help my odds during the interview? Thank you for any and all advice!!! I'm really really hoping I can get this job it would be amazing experience for me.
  11. Good luck in 120! I loved 120, don't know of anyone who didn't!! Keep studying hard and you'll do great!!
  12. I'm sorry I didn't respond to my own post! I'm buried with school work...I'm sure you can all relate to that! But I apologize all the same. I won't graduate until May 2013, hoping by then things change at least a little. I do intend on immediately enrolling in the RN-BSN program so I'm also hoping that helps too. I will start looking for a position in a hospital as a tech of some kind when I get closer to graduation if that will help...would hate to have my RN and no job in which to use it as I know many people have found themselves recently. Thanks for answering me everyone and again, sorry I haven't checked in more recently.
  13. Good luck everyone! I'm in the BCC program now, just started this semester and while it is hard, I love it very much! I was so anxious waiting for my letter too so I know how you all feel. Take a deep breath and try to relax...and then run to your mailbox everyday the minute you see the mail come! lol! I did!!! Good luck guys!!
  14. I'm currently in an associates program and am wondering if anyone who has earned their RN from one recently has gotten a job and if so in what time frame? I plan to continue on for my BSN, but want to work as an RN as I'm earning my BSN...but I'm scared I won't find a job. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
