Just thought it might be nice to have people to chat with over the course of this semester!
I'm taking:
A&P I
Statistics
Speech
Nutrition
School starts for me tomorrow!
My speech professor agreed to review my assignment, so yay!
This week is insane. I have a lecture exam for A&P, lab exam for A&P (all the bones and surface markings - not feeling confident!). I have a group project in speech due, as well as an outline for our big speech. Then of course statistics and nutrition busy work.
It's almost midterm - how is everyone doing?
Wow, can't believe it's October already!!! My first Anatomy exam was last month and I got a 100% on the practical portion and I think an 85% ish on the written part. Microbiology is not nearly as easy or fun! My second practical for anatomy is on Thursday and the written exam is next Tuesday. Ours is over the skull, muscles of the face and neck, CNS/PNS, and eye. I am confident about the practical exam but very nervous about the written portion. Also, I finished my independent research paper for microbiology and the teacher is assigning groups for our group project.
Hope everything is going well for everyone else :)
Devestated right now. I have been really working hard in this AP class. The first exam wasn't to challenging received a 76. A change in how I study helped improve my grade to an 86 on the next exam. Now have a Chem exam in AP with my Chem class will hopefully reinforce my knowledge giving me a 95 or higher.
I knew going into lab was going to be a disaster. I studied for 16 to 20 hours for 3 days!
First few slides on the scope did pretty well. Then had difficulty figuring what was being pointed on the scope got those right.
Then blood cells and easy slide. With dark purple being Leuckocytea and whitish hue being red blood cells. Then little dark purple dots platelets.
I didn't know the instructor wanted us to name a Leuckocyte. Like Neutrophils, Basophils, Esnophils, Monocytes, and Lymphocytes (Didn't look these up. I know the answers). I got the question wrong.
Then I will admit I mixed up my interphase and phrophase. So got those 2 questions wrong.
Then came compact bone. Asking questions of What is the black mass in the center where the pointer is? What is inside these black masees? What is coming off these black masses? What is a bone cell?
So I put Haverian Canal with bone marrow in them. With Canniculi coming off of them.
Answer was Lacunae with Canniculi coming off of them.
Bone cell I got correct Osteyoblast.
Then had the spelling on one be off so question was wrong.
Then 5 questions from our previous histology exam, which I blanked being focused on this exam. Got 2 of the 5 correct.
I can bring my GPA take a lot of work. Only 6 exams left and a final. Have to get nothing below a 90 on the exams to get an 85, which is terrible horrible!!! Then if I can get a 90 or higher the instructor guarantees 4.0 GPA, but says no one has ever done it.
@WCSU1987, I'm sorry. These tests are killer. The one I have today is over the hair/skin/bone tissue, and then all the bones in the body, along with their surface markings. Our tests are practical, so she gives us the bone and we have to answers the questions based on it. I'm feeling so nervous about this one - I didn't study properly, so it's my own fault.
@mindofmidwifery - sounds like you're doing well in A&P! Good job! I'm supposed to be taking micro with A&P II next semester, so I've been really curious about how challenging micro is.
I feel the exam doesn't measure our knowledge I know the material. I do decent in the written portion.
I literally have to get a 90 on the Chem quiz, the 2 Skeletal exams, the Skeletal Pratical, Nervous System exam, and another system covering have to check to see what it is.
Then a 90 to achieve a 90. 90 in AP are the only way your getting into nursing school.
Well!!! I have 7 weeks left to go for this semester. I have a 96 in A&P, a 98 in Eng 101, but My math for health sciences is a mother matter. I'm not doing well in it. I thought for sure it would be easier then my Biology class but not. It only has four exams and they are 80 percent of my grade. Right now I have an 80 in the class. If I can ace this test on Monday I'll b back in business if not I might just have to drop it. Any tips for conversions would be greatly appreciated.

First of two lab exams for AP 1 on Wednesday. Quiz, lab work, and lab prep for next lab due next Monday for Chemistry. AP1 3rd lecture exam and possibly another Chem quiz that Wednesday as well.
Brain is shot zero motivation to do anything after classes Monday. Thankfully no work tomorrow so can start studying late, which I actually focus and retain more when I study from 8p to 12am.
Also received my first Chem Exam, not a quiz grade back, 87.
Also my 3rd lab assignment 10.5 out of 20. But bummed my own fault forgot to hand in calculations. I have to reread the syllabus believe she throws away the lowest quiz and lab assignment. My labs have been a 100 & 90 so if I can keep them above 90 be happy. After2 rough quizzes to start Chem a 76 & 65 been bouncing around the 80s. Think took 4 quizzes so far.
Our lowest graded homework, 4 of them, 1 is dropped received a 90 on the first one.
We have extra credit assignments coming up at the end of the semester.
Just really worried about this lab exam. A challenge to prepare for. I created a study outline with questions and answers to questions. Pictures of slides have to identify and what is on the slide. Have to add a few definitions tonight and probably go over the outline 10 to 15 tines today. Then another 20 tines tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be ready for Wednesday.
