When I worked FT I never got cancelled.

When I switched to PRN, it varied. 1-2x a month in spring/summer (or more) and none during cold/flu season.

It's been probably 2 years since I've been called off due to census. And I pick up overtime frequently, so I haven't been losing any money over it.

It's almost like construction where I work, except opposite. Overtime in the winter, slow time in the summer.

It's usual to lose one day a pay period in the summer. Two days a month.

I work in a 500 bed hospital in a town of 125,000. In the last six months I have not been put on call a single time; in fact, all nurses have to do two mandatory on call shifts every six weeks. We need RNs BAD.

None. In fact we are usually short of nurses. This last respiratory season we were offered bonus pay for every OT shift picked up, and also used float pool nurses.

My facility can't stop giving me extra shifts. Other areas of the US may be facing a nursing surplus. Our facility, not so much.

ive worked in my hospital since october 2014 and ive never gotten cancelled.
