My memories of Easter are always of family and friends, huge meals, frilly dresses, springtime. Later as I grew older it always seemed a time of renewal and a time of promise.
In the past 5 years, we have had 5 deaths in my family. Mostly from cancer or lung disease. My sister is recovering from major surgery, and it was cancer, but thankfully they got it all. She won't have to have chemo or radiation.
Without getting overly religious, Easter and springtime is/are about the promise of rebirth, everlasting life and of hope.
I am thankful that for the first time in memory someone in my family was dx at stg I, instead of stg IV. Thank you, LORD, for my sister... I am thankful to have a good and loving husband, who takes care of me as much as I take care of him. I am thankful for my parents, my Mom for being the proud, stubborn, independent, hardworking woman...my Dad was the more compassionate, laidback, easygoing type. And I'm thankful his passionflower plants still grow in my backyard...it's makes me feel like he's looking down at me from Heaven.
What are you thankful for?
