Anyone out there anxiously waiting with me for news of acceptance to the October 1st cohort for Cedars Sinai? The excitement and suspense is really tough for me! My "nursing file" was complete and ready to go on February 2nd, which feels like about 25 years ago. All my eggs are in the WGU basket...I don't really have other options. I'm trying to pass the time by re-reading my anatomy and Microbiology textbooks. Also taking others' advice about relaxing and enjoying free time in case I do start school soon. I'd love to hear from anyone else waiting. Good luck to all who have applied!
GPA wasn't great, I think 3.1 or something. I've been an LVN for 14 years, have an ASN in Nursing and a BS in Molec Bio/Chemistry.
Scored at 92.7% on the TEAS. I'm assuming that's what compensated for my many years out of school and mediocre GPA.
Hope that helps, although it seems like I'm a strange exception to a rule. :/
Ms. Geek, yes, you figured me out.Wondabird, my TEAS was 92.7
Huzzah! We're TEAS-twins! lol
I feel dumb because my GPA was taking my 300-level science courses into consideration instead of the ones I did for nursing school (because they were so old), so it was lower than it could have been. Oh well, though. :)
I really think that working in the healthcare field gives a huge bump to getting in to the program. When looking at the posts from last year, I noticed a trend in the people saying they weren't getting in: They were slightly lacking in healthcare experience and Bachelor's degrees.
That's just my analysis of the situation, I would like to think they evaluate multiple things on an individual basis. :)
Yeah, I'm quite proud of my 92.7% and it's crazy that you have the same number! I agree, the healthcare experience is a big plus that my counselor really pushed me on, and I am so glad I took her advice.
For future applicants, I recommend really nailing the TEAS, and getting some kind of experience/exposure in a healthcare setting, such as becoming a CNA. Also check out the Clinical Care Extender program, which is really cool, at copehealthsolutions.org. They offer intensive, clinical-like volunteer/internship opportunities at various hospitals in Southern California.
For excellent advice on the TEAS, check out the article "How I Passed the TEAS Exam" written by rainbowvahmet under the Nursing Student/TEAS Exam Help forum. Every point made by rainbow is helpful.
I spoke with my enrollment councilor and he said that he'll submit my file for the Pasadena cohort so I'll see what happens with that and if I don't get in I'll most defiantly like the study material you offered. Thank you for that. Good luck and congrats to all who were chosen!! My prayers are with you.
Whussup all, I was also trying for the la cohort but received an email stating I wasn't selected. I wanted to know what were your GPA and teas scores like so that I am better prepared for the next go around. Any feedback is appreciated.
Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, graduated in 2008
Overall GPA: 3.0
GPA in prerequisites: 4.0
TEAS: 93%
Expired CNA license (expired 6 years ago!)
Currently working at a hospital - clinical but not nursing
I hope that helps!
