WGU Prelicensure-Cedars Sinai-Oct, 2014

Nursing Students Western Governors

Updated:   Published

Anyone out there anxiously waiting with me for news of acceptance to the October 1st cohort for Cedars Sinai? The excitement and suspense is really tough for me! My "nursing file" was complete and ready to go on February 2nd, which feels like about 25 years ago. All my eggs are in the basket...I don't really have other options. I'm trying to pass the time by re-reading my anatomy and Microbiology textbooks. :wideyed: Also taking others' advice about relaxing and enjoying free time in case I do start school soon. I'd love to hear from anyone else waiting. Good luck to all who have applied!

Grrl, grrl, where are you? Still out there?

I'm here, I'm here! LOL.

I'm not on Facebook; I have a fear of the lack of privacy on the internet. Even on here, I'm afraid someone at work might find me and know who I am.

I must say though that I'm excited to meet everyone and I wish the time would go by faster so we can all meet, but at the same time, I get butterflies in my stomach thinking about what's to come. I'm nervous that I'll completely flunk bootcamp and not make it to clinicals. I'm nervous that my mentor won't like me, etc.

Totally right there with you on all accounts, grrl. I actually considered deleting my posts on here, but fought the urge because they can be helpful to those in the future.

Anger mentor: check

Worried about clinicals: check

Don't want work to know about this: check

SOMETHING we could do: share email addies and correspond over there... In a google group. :)

You know what? I just made one. Not public, invite only.

Pm me your email addy for an invite.

This way, it stays on gmail only through our WGU accounts and will email us through those when there's posts. :)

And we can stop bogging down allnurses with our nonsense.

Totally get it ladies, the privacy is important! I'll PM you my email address. Thanks! Hopefully whomever is reading these posts isn't bored to tears in between the helpful stuff.

Everyone got invited! To the privacy!

I'm in so cal and hoping to start the pre licensure BSN program soon. The only thing holding me back is clinicals. Does anyone know if they are fulltime? Can i work and do clinicals? Any insight would be helpful, thanks.

Hi Elleveein,

Some others currently in the program may respond, but we've learned that clinicals are typically on the weekends, and are concentrated in short 3- or 4-week blocks where you might put in 5, 12-hour shifts in 3 weeks, for example, about every 2 to 3 months. They do say that you might have to be in clincials on holidays and nights, but it isn't likely. Many people work while in the program. During that last term, there are a few weeks where you might need to be in clinical on a daily basis. Take a look on this forum, particularly the prelicensure posts, and you'll see many responses about clinicals, working, and other interesting facts. Good luck to you!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
