Just checking to see if anyone is starting with me at WGU in November!!
I am just finishing my 1st term 10/31. I will finish with 18 credits while working full time and per Diem one day a week. If you still need biochem and stats it will add to your courses; I took them both this term. I'm doing RN-MSN, need 147 CEs total and I came in with 82, so now I have 47 left til my msn.
Some nurses get a lot done, depends on how much time you have to devote to it. I think it's unusual but possibly doable to complete 40 in one term.
I really love this program, it couldn't be more flexible for working nurses. Good luck ! There are Facebook groups for the different programs, just do a search in FB. There's an RN-BSN, an RN-MSN, a generic WGU Facebook group and others. I'm in both the bsn and msn groups because the undergrad courses are the same and it's helpful.
I am in the process of educationally rehabilitating myself to return to the workforce after lumbar surgery and am only 3 classes away from BSN completion from another online accredited university. I have 27+ years of Critical Care experience, complimented by Nursing Administrative experience and a current 4.0 GPA. After much lengthy research and program comparisons, I'm super excited to begin the application process for the MSN/MBA programs at WGU within the next 30 days. My only concern is that WGU specifies "currently employed" as one of their requirements for admission.
While I can certainly appreciate the value placed on a nurse's experience level and the reasoning for the listed requirement, I don't plan to return to work until I have completed my higher degree.
Does the WGU admission process include employment verification, or will my CV/Resume' reflecting 27+ years of experience suffice?
Thanks in advance for replying.
I will also be starting on 11/1/15.....so excited and nervous. I am a mom of 3 little ones (5,3 and 15 months) and currently work on a busy Med/Renal floor. I am excited to have found a program that seems like it will be a good fit for my situation. Definitely want to be in contact with others who are starting this journey with me. Good luck everyone :)
