Western University MSN-E 2020

Published

Hi all!

I, being the impatient person that I am, decided to make a thread to discuss the upcoming cycle of applications for Western University of Health Sciences, Masters of Science in Nursing Entry program.

A little about me, my undergrad is a B.S. in Public Health, but I always was interested in the nursing field. After getting my CNA license I decided that this was the field for me and want to eventually go on to become a Nurse Practitioner. I've been working on my application and I'm very nervous/excited to hear back (even though that seems forever away haha). Anyone else applying for this cycle, and if so what are your thoughts on the program??

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Does anyone know when a facebook page will be created for our cohort?

I wonder what is going to happen with clinicals? Does anyone happen to know about that? A mix of online and in person is awesome since I was assuming we wouldn’t even get a hands on sim lab. But I am worried about not having clinicals and what that will do for the rest of our program.

Someone from the previous cohort told me the FB page is usually created during our orientation once they have all the names of our classmates. So usually around July/August

Hello everyone,

I emailed westernu earlier this week about the fall format and this is what (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) replied:

Good afternoon,

It may be a combination of online and on campus. I know that the faculty are arranging to have students do their time in the Nursing Simulation Lab, which is an on campus activity. We will be exercising social distancing and PPE to protect students, faculty, and staff.

We plan to host a virtual Town Hall for incoming students in late June or early July. This would be a great opportunity for you and your cohort to ask those questions and get more information. Watch out for an email invite in the near future, it will come from our Recruitment Office.

Thanks for the update! I’ll be on the lookout for this event

Hi everyone! I was accepted into the MSN-E program at WesternU and am currently in the process of uploading the required documents. Do we submit the proof of CPR certification as "Supplemental Material" on the application page?

That’s what I did, but it still hasn’t updated as submitted on the page!

I sent a copy of my BLS certification to the processing department via email (I emailed the admissions counselor and he gave me an email address to send it to). My status page shows that it is complete now. Hope this helps!

I’m in the LA area and was able to find an in-person BLS class (even mid-pandemic) so I ended up doing that. I didn’t look into if there were accredited online options available though!

I just completed an online/in person hybrid course through AHA. In that course, I learned the materials and did simulations online, then did a 1 hour in-person session. Here's the link if you need: https://www.cprtrainingpro.com/CPR-classes-san-diego/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvOGq5OzS6QIV3h6tBh3W5w0IEAAYAiAAEgJt8vD_BwE

*the classes are limited to Southern California locations though

@maddyaddy and @abay Thank you guys for sharing! I actually found a site through American Heart Association that will allow you to complete your certificate virtually! Besides the online portion I think the in-person section is going to be done through face time it said. So if anyone is interested in the 100% virtual route it is available!
