Western University MSN-E 2020

Published

Hi all!

I, being the impatient person that I am, decided to make a thread to discuss the upcoming cycle of applications for Western University of Health Sciences, Masters of Science in Nursing Entry program.

A little about me, my undergrad is a B.S. in Public Health, but I always was interested in the nursing field. After getting my CNA license I decided that this was the field for me and want to eventually go on to become a Nurse Practitioner. I've been working on my application and I'm very nervous/excited to hear back (even though that seems forever away haha). Anyone else applying for this cycle, and if so what are your thoughts on the program??

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Hello all, do people still use facebook now a days? LOL. Maybe we can start a facebook page for tho accepted into this cohort. Anyone interested ?

Haha I definitely use it on occasion, and would be interested! I saw on last year’s page that the previous cohort creates a FB page for us once all the acceptances are sent out though!

Great! Thanks for that ?

So an update/context to everyone who received premature rejections and then a surprise interview invitation -

I just had my interview today and spoke to Alberto (he is such a wonderful human). Apparently there was an error in calculating GPAs when the Admissions Evaluation Committee reviewed all of our grades and transcripts, resulting in people being ranked lower than they should've been for interview consideration. Alberto realized this last week, and brought it to the attention of the Admission's Director. Based on this, they re-evaluated and gave out additional invitations.

Everyone being interviewed through March is being considered as much as people in February are being consider to fill the cohort. Official decisions will be available end of March or early April.

Good luck! The interview was a nice experience, but definitely take the time to prepare beforehand.

How many people were in your interview?

4. I was in the morning

I received an email on February 14th offering me an interview. I went in on Wednesday February 26th. They told us we would hear back the second or third week of March, but we are heading into the third week and I have yet to hear back! I check my email constantly from 7am to 10 am every day LOL. Has anyone hear back? I am sure we haven't heard back because of the extra interviews.

I think someone from the second interview group mentioned that we would hear back late March or early April. I feel it’s going to be more like early April with everything that is going on right now and everyone having to adjust to the situation.

Hang in there everyone who is waiting! I know the waiting process can make one feel anxious. I was in the first group & didn’t hear back until about 5 days after the anticipated day they said, so I can imagine how things could be delayed even further now (especially with these new transitions). I wish you all good luck ! :) sending positive energy

I called last week to "check on the status of my application". The person I spoke with asked me the date of my interview and was surprised I had not heard back yet. She put me on hold and when she came back on she said " notifications will be sent out at the end of the month". It definitely sounded like I wasn't accepted. Fingers crossed for the ADN program I applied to.

Hi everyone,

I sent an email to Alberto and he said that we should hear back from them within the first week of April.

Good luck to all of you guys and be safe out there!

Hi everyone. I just received an email informing me of an update to my application status. I was placed on the alternate list. Good luck to everyone else.

I got in! Very surprised at this turn of events; originally rejected but didn't interview, rejection rescinded and then got interviewed, and then got accepted.

This school has thrown me for a loop LOL
