Hi all!
I, being the impatient person that I am, decided to make a thread to discuss the upcoming cycle of applications for Western University of Health Sciences, Masters of Science in Nursing Entry program.
A little about me, my undergrad is a B.S. in Public Health, but I always was interested in the nursing field. After getting my CNA license I decided that this was the field for me and want to eventually go on to become a Nurse Practitioner. I've been working on my application and I'm very nervous/excited to hear back (even though that seems forever away haha). Anyone else applying for this cycle, and if so what are your thoughts on the program??
Looking forward to hearing from you all!
Clearly you have impressive credentials, is this your first choice school considering you have 3 acceptances? I'm just trying to understand, I received my rejection this week also and have one other acceptance, 1 waitlist and one interview verdict pending. I feel lucky to be in this position because I know how competitive it is

In the email I received, it said they made an error in rejecting me because I was accidentally put on the rejection list despite having an excellent application. But it really sounds like we definitely were rejected and they either 1. Didn’t get the amount of strong applicants they wanted so they’re dipping into other pools or 2. Are trying to save face because so many of us with strong GPAs and experience were flat out rejected; which made no sense. I’m not even sure if the people interviewing us even want to be interviewing us, you know what I mean?
For others asking, they opened up 6 more interviews so I’m assuming that’s going to push back when you expected to be hearing regarding acceptance.
Well, February is a big month for a lot of schools releasing decisions. I figure they interviewed a bunch of people, those people turned them down, and now they are looking at the pool again. I do feel your worry about whether the people interviewing us actually want to talk to us, or if the University is just trying to make themselves look better. I want to talk to Albert on Monday and get a little more information. I'll be sure to share what I find out.

I live in LA, and my partner lives here as well. If I went to San Diego, it would be a manageable long distance relationship. But if I had the ability to stay in LA and be closer to where I am now, I would prefer that. I also really liked Western's campus (as a graduate medical and clinical campus) and the interprofessional opportunities to work with the other programs.
The other two schools I got into are on the East Coast; I turned them down once I got into a California school. I know how competitive it is in California, so I too feel lucky and blessed to have gotten into a school here already. But if I got into Western, I would definitely consider going. Despite the whole rigmarole and emotional rollercoaster their application has put me through.

Yes, please let us know what Alberto says. I am also one of those people who got a rejection email then received an interview invite. Definitely frustrating
Thanks for sharing
USD was my number one choice and I was rejected by them, but at least they did it early, but I understand that if you want to stay close to LA you are going to make compromises. Not sure what to make of Western's strategy its confusing to everyone. Anyway one day we will all be CNLs and this will all be a distant lesson.
Good luck to all

And yet they prematurely sent out rejections?! What is going on there LOL
