Western University MSN-E 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I just submitted my application and wanted to start a thread for this year's application cycle. Through this thread we can lend each other advice, support, updates, and/or questions!

A little about me... I recently completed my undergraduate studies and realized nursing was my true passion. I went from pre-med --> pre-dental --> pre-PA and now I'm here! I'm super excited to have applied because I feel life I've finally found what I want to do with myself. I also barely found out that accelerated Master's programs in Nursing exist.

I read last year's thread and it said that people receive an email saying their "application has been forwarded to the admissions department" or something like that. Did anyone who applied already receive this email yet?

Cheers.

Hey guys, I had my EAOD interview yesterday. It was pretty informative, so I might be able to answer some questions. Staff and students seemed genuinely happy to be there and eager to help us despite the awful weather. I was pleasantly surprised!

Do you happen to know anything regarding the email invitations they have yet to send? Congrats by the way! Sounds so exciting ?

No, sorry...They didn’t address it and I didnt hear anything about it.

Congrats! Do you know roughly how many EAOD students attended?

I think roughly 20-25? It was a decently sized group but I heard a lot saying they had applied to multiple places and were holding out until they found out from those before they made a decision. So it’s really hard to gauge how many would accept if they got accepted.

Hello! I’m attending EAOD next Wednesday and was wondering if you could give a brief insight on how it went down and how did it go for you? Is there anything that I need to prepare? Thanks!

Am I the only one who is super anxious about not getting an email yet? ?

I am right there with you! I keep refreshing my email and checking the thread for updates ?

Lol same. I called this afternoon and the lady told me interview invites should be going out by the 25th (next Friday) via email. I thought they were gonna go out this week so I guess they changed their minds.

The first few hours consisted of presentations regarding financial aid, the restructure of the program and staff introductions. By ~ 11:30, we had a writing activity wherein we were asked to type out the definition of a word they provided and give an example. Then it was lunch with a staff member and a current MSNE student, and finally the tour.

I’d suggest preparing a well thought out answer for why you want to be a nurse/what moment led you to believe nursing is for you and maybe why you’re choosing Western. I feel like I fumbled on my answer a bit, but the professor didn’t seem to mind. Overall, the event was lax, but I still tried to ask questions, stand out, seem interested, yadda yadda yadda. Treat it as a formal interview without a ton of one-on-one questions...if that makes sense.

Let me know if anything else comes up!

I was able to leave around 3 I think. But I don’t know if they cut parts of it short because of the rain, so I’d expect to be there till 4 like it states in the email, just in case.
