I just submitted my application and wanted to start a thread for this year's application cycle. Through this thread we can lend each other advice, support, updates, and/or questions!
A little about me... I recently completed my undergraduate studies and realized nursing was my true passion. I went from pre-med --> pre-dental --> pre-PA and now I'm here! I'm super excited to have applied because I feel life I've finally found what I want to do with myself. I also barely found out that accelerated Master's programs in Nursing exist.
I read last year's thread and it said that people receive an email saying their "application has been forwarded to the admissions department" or something like that. Did anyone who applied already receive this email yet?
Cheers.

Hello!
I am also applying to Western University's MSN-E program and I am still in the process of finalizing my essay! The last question "All health professionals should be educated to deliver patient-centered care as members of the interprofessional health care team. What do you see as the role of the master's prepared nurse in interprofessional practice settings?" is a bit challenging for me. Does anyone have any suggestions/tips/ideas they can pitch in? Thank you! Best of luck to everyone applying!

I submitted my application yesterday but I have not received anything yet and I'm still waiting for one of my LOR's to be submitted.

Congrats! I submitted my application a week ago but still have not received the email yet. I was told we should hear back about interviews in late November or early December. Hoping to hear back soon. Do you mind if I ask what volunteer/clinical experiences you had prior to applying?
Yeah same! And I've worked as a medical scribe for the last 2 years (approx 2,000 hours) and I've been volunteering at a hospital since Feb of this year (approx 70 hours so far).

oh man. im screwed. I didnt have any type of health care experience listed because they said they didnt expect us to. I just submitted my application last week. Do you guys mind sharing your stats? My gpa dropped lasted year due to back to back family emergencies. its still in the 3s thank God but it could be better. Also I graduate in december. should I send an updated transcript?
I believe if you still have classes in progress and you are accepted-- they'll have you send transcripts for whatever school you had classes in progress with. And when I graduated from undergrad, I had a 3.1 cumulative and I think my prerequisite GPA is around 3.4.
Right, if you are accepted then they will request the updated transcripts. I have some clinical experience as well, I worked as a phlebotomist and medical assistant for 2 years but part-time. I also volunteered on weekends and have some leadership experience. Comparing to last year's admitted students' GPAs I meet the average and am a bit above as well.
Does anyone know anything about the "last 60 units" GPA? I heard they may or may not look at that anymore which is unfortunate because I really believe that shows a lot in a student's progress.
The man i talked to said they do.

Also, just to verify what you mentioned, I was also told that no experience in nursing or in the medical field is required. So you don't have to worry if you don't have experience since it is an entry level master's program. Did you mention your family emergencies in your essays? That would be a great time to explain if you feel your grades haven't been consistent with what you normally are capable of.
