Western University MSN-E 2019

Published

I just submitted my application and wanted to start a thread for this year's application cycle. Through this thread we can lend each other advice, support, updates, and/or questions!

A little about me... I recently completed my undergraduate studies and realized nursing was my true passion. I went from pre-med --> pre-dental --> pre-PA and now I'm here! I'm super excited to have applied because I feel life I've finally found what I want to do with myself. I also barely found out that accelerated Master's programs in Nursing exist.

I read last year's thread and it said that people receive an email saying their "application has been forwarded to the admissions department" or something like that. Did anyone who applied already receive this email yet?

Cheers.

Hi there, I don't know exactly how it's conducted but it should be the same as what they did with you last time? @Richforbroke was a previous applicant and is in the program now. Maybe he can lend you some advice!

Congrats to those who received their acceptance already! For those who have an interview, my recommendation is to just PRACTICE and do your prep work. Talk in front of a mirror and do some mock interviews to get feedback.

Know your story and why YOU want to be a nurse. The entire process isn't as daunting as it may seem. The faculty are welcoming and know that you may be nervous/terrified. Remember this should just be a conversation! The faculty want to get to know you. I haven't heard of anyone getting "grilled" during the interview process.

Don't memorize answers...It'll sound too reheorificed and may come off as disingenuous. At least what I like to do for interviews in general is to reflect on my past experiences and have "pocket examples". Stories/experiences I can bring up if I want to talk about leadership, conflicts, achievement, etc. This way if they ask a question I didn't completely prepare for...I'll draw from these "pocket examples"

Remember to breathe!

You will get an overview of the program, a tour of the campus, a short writing portion, and the interview itself is around 30 minutes or so. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Hi guys! I received an interview email today as well! I'll be attending the 12:45 interview next Friday! : ) Congrats to you all who received acceptances and interviews!

Feb. 25th at 12:45 over here! ?

Thank you!!! This helps sooo much. ?

@GigiEmma2 The interview portion was about 20 minutes. It didn't feel too long. I don't really remember but I think about 5-6 questions. There were two faculty members and they would switch off asking questions.

Wow 20 minutes sounds like forever! I just interviewed at another school and they asked 3 questions and they gave you 90 seconds to answer each. Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate it!

Congrats to all the interview invites!! If anyone remembers, can they ask the current students about the Facebook group? Ive read in previous years in this forum that it’s tradition for the current cohort to form the group for the next one, but I forgot to ask when I went. I’d like to know how to buy their used books and have a place where we can ask questions.

Thanks! I’m so excited to start this Fall!

Yes^ I would like to know about the FB group too!? thank you in advance

is tuition 88k a year or for the whole program?
