I just submitted my application and wanted to start a thread for this year's application cycle. Through this thread we can lend each other advice, support, updates, and/or questions!
A little about me... I recently completed my undergraduate studies and realized nursing was my true passion. I went from pre-med --> pre-dental --> pre-PA and now I'm here! I'm super excited to have applied because I feel life I've finally found what I want to do with myself. I also barely found out that accelerated Master's programs in Nursing exist.
I read last year's thread and it said that people receive an email saying their "application has been forwarded to the admissions department" or something like that. Did anyone who applied already receive this email yet?
Cheers.
@Sunnyko15 I agree with @teamplayer08 being an alternate is good. I was waitlisted at another school before even getting accepted to Western. If you are an alternate, you are a great applicant. Do not give up!

Thank you both! I’m going to keep the faith!
Hi all,
Sorry I didn't respond much. Congrats to all those who have been accepted! To answer about the FB group, it's a closed group that will be between my cohort (Cohort 15) and your cohort and it is based on your westernu.edu email. Cohort 14 setup the FB group for us and we will be setting it up for you. I'm sure we can start that process in the coming weeks (but tbh, there hasn't been a discussion about it yet).
For those who are on the alternate list, I KNOW how you're feeling when you read that email. Because I went through the same last year. My heart sank. My advice...DON'T LOSE HOPE. Like I said previously, I estimate about 1/4-1/3 of my cohort came from the alternate list. I came from the alternate list.
Hope for the best, plan for the worst. Last year, I was already making plans on what I will do for the upcoming year to improve my application in case I didn't get in.
To further expand on why the FB group is setup in such a way is because the previous cohort will act as your mentors so it's not just a comprehensive group of WesternU alum/students. You will actually be assigned to one faculty mentor and one cohort 15 student mentor as additional resources for you.
I took a personality test during welcome week and the faculty tried to match us with a student mentor. WesternU CGN tries to provide you with additional resources/support in that regard.

How exciting! Thanks again! ? Is it required to go to every single day of welcome week?
