Hi Everyone!
I didn't see a thread started for this application cycle so I wanted to get one going. If there is one already started that I haven't seen feel free to redirect me. I applied for Western University's MSN-E program this fall for a start date of next fall. If anyone else is applying/has any news please share! Good luck to everyone!
You could complete the FNP portion in 2 years working full time. I am not currently doing so as I'm pretty burnt out from school. The ladies I know at western who did or are doing the FNP track have all dropped to at least part time.
I can't remember my gpa from undergrad but I have a BA in History. I actually went straight from CSU Long Beach to Western without any time off in between. I was one of the youngest in the cohort. The most comfortable and successful students were those who were already in a medical field (respiratory therapists, EMTs, etc). It is a challenging program, for various reasons, and a strong support system is very helpful in keeping you sane and on track.

Thanks for your kind information. MSN-FNP portion, there are 15 units of Clinical Experience.
Can you explain more detail about this part. Such as how to find preceptors? Can you use your
current working place and working hours toward part of it? How many clinical hours needed for
each part of Family medicine, pediatric, geriatric, ob/gyn ...etc? Thanks.
Hello everyone,
I am new to allnurses and made an account just for this thread! I am also still working on getting my LORs so I havent applied yet. Does anybody know the competitive stats for the last cohort?! Im gonna admit, i'm pretty nervous but also very excited! I hope to communicate with all of you during the next few months. Thanks.

Nope, because I'm not doing the FNP portion, as I said. I know that the school is not helpful with finding preceptorship and many students struggled a great deal getting the hours they needed. But unless you're currently working in a capacity that leaves you free to shadow current NPs, your working hours would not count toward your requirements.
Thanks for the info SoCalGalRN!
music&rhythm91, at Preview Day, they said that 566 applied, ~200 were interviewed, 60 were accepted. The average age was 24-26. I don't remember if GPA was mentioned.
How is everyone doing on their Personal Statement? I'm struggling to keep it concise - I feel like I have so much to say!

Wow, you guys submitted your application so early! I will be applying for the Fall 2014 cycle, as well, but I'm still in the process of writing my personal statement and collecting my LORs. Western is my first choice (aside from UCLA, which just seems impossible right now) because it seems like a perfect fit for me, personally. Do you guys have any idea about how competitive it is to be admitted? I've done a lot of research on allnurses and on Western's website, and it seems that they take a holistic approach in reviewing applicants, which I think is great!
SoCalGalRN, congrats on finishing the program! I was wondering if you would mind sharing your stats (experience, GPA, major when you applied) with us?
