@bluefossil...you will not just be sitting behind a computer screen. You are expected to get a position as an RN as soon as you pass your boards so you will be working as a nurse the entire time you are going through the master's portion. You also have seminar weekends to come together as a cohort. It's much easier to hold a full time job when you have the flexibility of an online program. You can work whenever you need to and do your classwork around that schedule. If you had to come to campus every day for class it would be pretty difficult to make a work schedule. Plus, what you do in the simulation lab on campus is helpful, but taking care of an actual patient is very different. It makes more sense to spend more of your time in the hospital and less of your time sitting in a lecture hall. You will still learn the same information you would while sitting in a lecture. You just have to hold yourself accountable for getting the work done. They work in online coursework early on in the semester so that you start to get used to what it is like.

Hey guys! I know everyone is on the edge of their seat waiting to hear back right now. I am in the current cohort and although we have no idea when final decisions are made, I can tell you that the Board of Registered Nursing is making a visit this week beginning tomorrow. They are responsible for making sure all of the nursing programs in CA are meeting state regulations. I think they make their rounds every 5-10 years. The entire College of Graduate Nursing has been working really hard to get everything in line for the visit and it seems to be the number one priorty right now. Even we are switching around classes and clinicals right now to make accomodations. After Saturday the BRN will be done with their visit and it will be business as usual. The point is, you guys should sit tight for the week until after they finish up with the BRN. I know it doesn't help the worrying too much but at least you can maybe relax a little for the rest of this week! Hopefully they make final decisions soon! Good luck everyone!

Hey guys! I attended the Early Acceptance Opportunity day last year. I think there were about 15 of us which was apparently the largest group they have had for the early acceptance opportunity day. Your chances of being accepted are very high (not absolutely guaranteed) if you are invited to attend/actually attend. There is the possibility that even if you attend they may still invite you to attend a regular interview day as well if they would like to get to know you a little bit better. They will probably mention that on the day of. It is a great day to meet current students and faculty and learn a lot about the program so I would recommend that you don't miss it if you are invited. It's a really great day that they put together so take advantage and ask as many questions as you can. Congrats to everyone who has heard so far and good luck to everyone else still waiting!

Hi guys! Hopefully you are all relaxing now that the application deadline has passed. I am a current MSN-E student at Western U and we are just finishing up our first semester. Since I was in your shoes last year, waiting for an interview email, I thought I would give you an idea of when things started to happen last year. Most likely you will not hear anything this month. The earliest people heard last year, for the early opportunity day (they pick the students that really stand out and having them in for a different kind of interview day-they've done this in the past but there is no guarantee so you'll just have to wait and see-it's not something they advertise), was mid-December. I think the rest of the interview invites went out sometime early to mid-January and into February. The early opportunity day last year was in mid-January and the other interviews followed in the weeks after. Once you interview they are pretty quick to get back to you. Anyway, hopefully this eases some of the stress of waiting. Good luck to all of you and hopefully we'll see you after the holidays for interviews. Let me know if you have any other questions.

@sandalboy...it takes a little while to hear back after you send your deposit in. Once they receive it they will send you an e-mail saying they received it and then they will send another e-mail with admitted student info

@jrlaurel...congrats! I haven't found a place yet but I have been looking. There are some in upland that are pretty reasonably priced. Are you looking for a roommate as well?
