Western University of Health Sciences

I just got accepted into the FNP MSN-E program at Western University of Health Sciences.:D Has anyone gone through this program? If so, could you please share what you liked and disliked about the program. Any feedback would be helpful.

Thank you!

Did anyone get in as a direct admit (i.e., no interview)?

There are very few of those. In the class of 2013, there were only 4 of us who were direct admit. The direct admit kids do not get a one on one interview. Instead they chat casually with the faculty over a free lunch which is still kind of an interview.

Congrats to all those who were accepted. Be prepared to sacrifice a lot to be successful.

Does anyone know what the schedule for the first few weeks will be? I know we won't start clinical rotations right away, but I'm trying to plan for a few weddings that will be that month!

Thanks!

You will have welcome week, followed by a week off. Actual classes start the following Monday. Expect to be on campus 4 days a week, all day. You start clinicals around week 7 or 8, halfway through fall semester.

any other alternates heard any news yet???

I've already started filling out applications for other schools...just don't want to spend the extra money if there might still be hope!!!

Im still on the alternate list too so Im in the same boat as you trying to figure out what to do next... :( I don't know if you saw or not that on page 25 there are two posts from people who were on the alternate list that got in. And someone else posted that someone from Western said the list usually starts moving in mid June- July so Im trying to stay hopeful with that! haha. Good luck to you!

it's just so frustrating not knowing where I stand on the waitlist. if I knew I was like number 50, I'd be filling out and sending in applications. UGH!!! I thought I was done with the whole application thing back in January. I don't wanna go thru it again. so for now I'm trying to stay positive and hope that helps in some way hah.

good luck to you too!!!

Thanks! I totally understand your frustrations... I tried calling to get more info awhile ago but no one was there to to help so I emailed my counselor and never got a response :( Let me know if you do happen to hear something so I know to start working on my alternate plans, hahaha!

any e-mail correspondence I've had with Valerie Valle just says "there is no change in your application status". I think I may try to call tomorrow and see if they can tell me if many spots have opened up or if they anticipate lots opening up, just to get a feel for what my chances are.

Has anyone been accepted into the MSN-E program that begins in August that is looking for a place to live near campus? I would really like to live with another (female) nursing student (preferrably one from my cohort) but I am not sure how to go about connecting with anyone. Also, do you know if a facebook has been created for our cohort? I know they did that last year, but I do not have facebook so I wasn't sure if one was created for this year. Please write back!

Thanks!

I just got accepted, so I'm definitely in need of a roommate!!

Congratulations to those who are accepted. I am still waiting to hear from them. For those who applied to the ELMSN program at Western, do you guys know when class for this program begins? I know it begins in August, but I am not sure about the exact date. Thanks a bunch.

I believe orientation is Aug 2nd-7th, then classes begin on the 16th.

Good luck!!!
