Westchester Community College FALL 2010 RN PROGRAM

Published

Just wondering if anyone is applying to the Fall 2010 RN program at WCC? Im curious to know what youve heard is the score you should obtain on the TEAS to gain entry into the program? At the Nursing seminar, we were told 85 or above and buy your scrubs but around campus Im hearing from students that they know of people who scored 90 and didnt get in.

Thanks for the info. Good luck on your finals!

Maybe those that are signed up are LPN's??? I can't imagine what other explanation there could be.

I really don't think anyone knows yet. I hope soon though! The wait is driving me crazy too bc I need to register for the Fall semester before all the good classes are gone! Which, btw, I was told even after we get our acceptance letters, we can't register for classes until AFTER Orientation.

I called the Admissions office just now (around noon) and spoke to an unfamiliar gentleman who said letters went out today. I'm taking it with a huge grain of salt because I have never heard this person's voice before and he did not seem to understand what I was talking about when I first asked him, but I thought I'd pass it along. Cheers!

ETA--- had a friend call just now (around 1 pm) and a lady picked up the phone this time. She said letters go out Monday. No one knows what the heck is going on in that office, soooo I'll just keep on waiting along with everyone else. It is a shame they are playing these waiting games with applicants :(

As Ive mentioned before, when I went to the Information Session last year, they were very emphatic that they only take the TEAS score into account when making their decision. However, it has become a little obvious to me that they waited for Final grades to come out before making their decisions. Whats up with that? Why not just admit then, that grades are also a factor?

Funny how when I even suggested the idea they might use grades to decide admissions, people were trying to talk be down

Them taking this long does not necessarily mean they looked at grades, but it sure does make it seem like they did.

Maybe they're making sure that the applicants pass the pre-requisite courses with at least a c. It's so annoying that they would say that they'll notify us by the 2nd week, and then NOT do it! Just tell us it'll be the end of May instead, so we don't get so anxious everyday expecting to get results by the 2nd week. Well everyone, they have today left to notify us! Maybe we'll get something in the mail today!

It couldnt be that theyre making sure pre-reqs are complete bc people have through the summer to complete pre-reqs. I really think they are factoring final grades.

I'm applying for the night/weekend program. We do not have until end of summer for the pre-reqs. For example, we had to have completed A&P 1&2 and nutrition by end of this spring semester.

Still no letter in today's mail! They should've changed the recording on *******'s phone. Also, it would be great if we could get through to someone once in a while on the phone or get a reply through email. Hopefully, the professors in the nursing program are more helpful and nicer than the admin staff!!!

Maybe its different for the night program bc I know for the Day program you have until the end of summer to complete pre-reqs.

HOT OFF THE PRESS!!

My friend just called me and told me she spoke to Prof. * just now and he told her that letters will be going out this Wednesday. Apparently the department will get together this week and decide. Though they will be basing their decision mostly on the TEAS scores, they will be reviewing PREREQUISITES in order to ensure that accepted candidates have a minimum GPA of 2.0 in these courses. She did not ask about completing pre reqs during the summer because she wanted to keep the conversation to a minimum. Apparently she did not want to tick him off

Personally this really bothers me because summer session starts on Monday and for those of us who might have to resort to a plan B, there won't be much time to prepare to start taking pre reqs for other nursing programs  So there you have it. Straight from the horses mouth (sort of).

Have a great week!

Are any of you taking pharmacology first summer session?

I can tell you that I sat with one of the heads of the Nursing program when I did my schedule and they told me I had until the end of summer to complete my pre-reqs so maybe theyre considering pre-req grades when it comes to the Night/Eve program or the LPN program? I think its different for the Day program.
