West Coast University?

U.S.A. California

I'll be graduating from LVN school in November and want to go on to an LVN-RN program. I haven't done any RN pre-requisites and, at age 50, don't want to take the time to do so... so I'm looking for a program with "built in" pre-reqs. I'm curious about West Coast University but can't find much info about it. Please tell me what you know about it... thanks!

it is accredited as RN SCHOOL in california. in fact, we have a 95% passing rate so far. (thanks to HESI Iguess:crying2:) But having your subject credit to university UCLA

I go to LA branch.

when you go to WCU list some questions you want to ask. it will be best if it comes from the source:D.

Well done kithzeez! :yeah::urck: u answered all the questions right on!! explained it very well.

Regarding if you want to continue to BSN, the places my friends and I have inquired are CSU Dominguez Hills, University of Phoenix, WCU BSN and now I heard CSU Fullerton will take WCU graduates! sooo the list is growing sooo keep up the great work future WCU graduates!

Im looking into starting next year for the BSN - havent decided what school.

wow!!! that is a good news!!! I have my 1st exam in med surge.. I dunno what to read now.. hahaha. I practice the saunders like crazy read the hesi hints and know it by heart and those imbalances acid-base....:uhoh3: right now I am ready to give up hahaha

hahaha! i forgot to mention! there's also a program out there ADN to Masters. Incase you're interested in pursuing your masters in Nursing. But we are still looking for more information on that.

I'm sure you did fine on the med/surg exam! Is Ms. Palma teaching now?!

I am sorry I will have the exam tonight. I dunno yet but I heard mr santiago is no longer teaching. I am not sure if it is true. He gave us this bunch of list to read and then I ask him today. he said Pain is not included but he gave that in the reading material. hahahaha. No wonder student get confuse.

I think this one "rumor" thats maybe true. I heard about that when I was still at WCU...maybe because of what our batch wrote on his eval.hmmmm. Im jk! But ive been hearing about that same rumor lately even after graduating from WCU, we still get updates from friends that goes to WCU.

I wouldn't waste my time asking him. You ask him a question and looks at you like we're asking a stupid question. Thats one of the few things we didnt like about him. Most of his test, he didnt give us a list, we went with his powerpoint and studied deeper into it. But on our hesi test, he did give us a list that really helped. oh my! WCU is cleaning house i guess! But I hope you guys get to experience Mr. Crescencia, he's another awesome instructor in PEDS, very knowledgeable and easy to talk to.

Gluck on your Med/Surg exam tonite, i remember Resp/Metabolic Acidosis and Alkalosis, he likes that on exams plus it shows up again on HESI test! hehehe

I give up. here I am browsing the net just to relax because I am really clueless. I studied that resp/ met acid-base compensation. and I heard it more like a nclex questions. critical thinking. so.. i will just have to go on. hahaha

thank you. I am not really bothered right now because it is the 1st test. I sure hope to have a good start though. but 1st exams are always the suicidal exam cause i don't his style yet.

i do listen to the tips from you and some friends who took his class already.

:)

thats true! i can give you all the advice but you do have to experience the first test. You can prepare yourself for all these tests and may or may not see what im talking about, till you experience it. Either way, once you get the flow of things with every instructors, you'll make it to graduating soon...10 weeks flew by fast for me back then. As long as you're organized, time management and stress management in control.

You've survived these past 5 terms.. 3 more to go!! i say you do your countdown now! :D

:prdnrs:

thank you for you moral support. I know that WCU pojects and classes are very toxic. anywhere you go is the same at least I am getting SOMEWHERE.

that is what I am telling myself few more months..... and I am done. woohooo

Please pray for us!!! me and my group!!!

good morning everyone,

i just wanted to thank everyone for answering all of my questions from earlier during the week.

so we went and met with a admission rep on Tuesday at the Anaheim campus, by the way anyone in here that goes there? I was impressed with the builiding (given that it is new and free parking!!!) and some how with the program too.

My fiance liked it too, he is stressed about it because he's hearing from me about all the stress you are going through and that 10 weeks is so SHORT!

the thing we didn't like at all is that they are not going to give him credit for speech or math. he took it 10 years ago and got an F (different life different time) and he wants to take it at a community college and get the A but they will not credit it so he has to pay to take speech at WCU. The point i brough up was well you don't give someone credit for a class that's older than 5 years so why do you keep track of time the other way??

also there's an added fee if you choose to take the class online ($150)!!!!! Come on guys!!! it's not all about the money! We wanted to see the total coast of the tuition but she said financial aid will speak w/ us after he takes the HESI....why not before?

anyway he's planning on taking the entrance exam in a month and once he passes the boards he's planning on starting in October at the Anaheim one.

Where have you had your clinical if you go to the Orange County campus?

thank you for all your valuable info...

hello everyone:nuke:

i am an LVN and is planning to got to WCU. my friend said that this school is not approved by the National League for Nursing. Does anyone know the significance of this? how will this affect me if i graduate from WCU?

pls help!:uhoh3:

:yawn:I dunno if that is really true. But as a WCU-nian myself, I don't really care because they are not the one who gives the license it is the the board of nurses www.rn.ca.gov . When in doubt...DO SOME RESEARCH...

goodluck.

LISTENING TO HEARSAY DOESN'T REALLY DO US ANY GOOD.:uhoh3:
