West Coast University?

U.S.A. California

I'll be graduating from LVN school in November and want to go on to an LVN-RN program. I haven't done any RN pre-requisites and, at age 50, don't want to take the time to do so... so I'm looking for a program with "built in" pre-reqs. I'm curious about West Coast University but can't find much info about it. Please tell me what you know about it... thanks!

Iheartnrsing, that is one thing I want ot ask you about is where to do community service. I have no clue where to do it. any ideas? thank you thank you for you advice. Right now we just recieve the new that they will accept the score of 680 above instead of the first passing score of 750.. I think they will keep policy of taking the twice only.

We'll see, I hope you will pass your nclex. But I suggest to continue reviewing your nclex pn because part of the hesi exam for you transition which is the term5 is nclex pn. goodluck to both of us. ask us some questions if you have any. If I can answer...

I know the next round of classes for West Coast University in Anaheim starts Feb 4th, does anybody have idea when the next semester starts after that?

kithzeez, thanks for the heads-up about the term 5 hesi... not looking forward to that, but testing is a part of life I guess!

Good luck to you as you begin a new term, what classes will you have?

NursingROXX, WCU starts new terms every 10 weeks, so the next term will begin sometime in April. Are you thinking of attending?

Very much looking into WCU. I live in VA, just graduated recently as an LPN & work on a med-surg floor. Me & my friend from from Cali both want to finish our one year exp. here and then move to Cali & go to WCU to finish our RN...we've already completed the gen-ed classes so we would just need the last 9 months. were looking to go out there around August. Trying to get as much info as I can. I've called 3x, I've received a standard email but no return call yet. I know it would be easier just to attend the open house session, but that probably won't be able to happen until summer when i can take a break... From what I gather from online, WCU definitely seems the route to go. Any Advice?

Thanks!

I think you might want to wait until next week and then start calling. Today is the first day of a new term and they're probably swamped, so likely this week will be crazy, too. Be sure to check your junk mail, I stumbled across some stuff from them that had gotten stuck in junk mail.

I chose WCU because I want to get on with it and not take any longer than necessary. Sounds to me like that's your idea, too. You're moving a very long way to go to this school, were you planning to move anyway?

As for the money, the entire package now costs about 63K, but it will be cut in half if you've got all your pre-reqs done.

kithzeez- oh wow! they lowered the scoring, thats good! actually the reason they lowered is, from what ive heard, some of the versions are actually alot harder than they think. as far as, community service, they should have given you guys a list of where to go and with contact information. or even if its not on the list, just find out what they want for your paper, for med/surg, we went to dialysis centers near where we live, just contact different facilities that would allow students to observe and show them the letter from wcu.

we'll see- im sure u passed the boards!! keep us posted! gluck starting the new term at wcu. the nclex -pn is term 5's transition test.

i will try my best to keep you posted and help you go through the program if somethings confusing or support to cheer you on as you pursue your rn education. goodluck!!!:nurse:

Kithzeez, best of luck to you as you begin the new term! How is it going so far?

I've finished the assignments for the first week of English, and today/tonight I'll be going to anatomy class and then to lab. I admit that I'm nervous. 9 hours of this today?? Yikes!

Wellsee, Thank you ery much. I hearthrsing was right all along. I have Dr Levy for leadership and she sound like she knows what she is doing. She is very knowlegeable on what she does. With Mr Santiago, I dunno. There's a lot of reading and too much Youtube clips that doesn't even related to his topic. What makes me more nervous about his class was there were 10 to 11 people to repeated his class because they did not pass the class. ( not that they fail the Hesi test but fail his class.) This is according to them. So I do not know. This week is not really a fun week. Well it is always like that. First time is not always fun right. haaay!!! I just hope we through this...

as far as anatomy, I wish I can say something about it. I did not take anatomy at wcu. But I heard there is a lot or memorization for a short period of time.

kithzeez :specs: hahaha MR. Santiago still doing the youtube videos!! LOL! I heard he is in a leg cast! awww! in med/surg he always emphasized on COMPARTMENT SYNDROME! sooo ask him " are you having any unrelenting pain?" gosh he made us memories the signs/symptoms of Compartment Syndrome!

anyways, just remembered! In his class, make sure you get passing scores on ALL his test even if its 75% (that was our passing rate, not sure for your class). But still aim for 90% and above in all your classes! In his syllabus, his grading is different from different Professors. Most of his grading are from the TESTS, the papers , oral presentations, community papers/hrs MINIMUM impact on your OVERALL grade. The TESTS are his basis for your overall grade regardless if you pass the week 9 HESI/ATI test.

Dr. Levy is really nice! ull learn alot from here especially in PSych..I can never emphasize enough about her Psych theory...hands down ull learn from her! leadership wasnt really her strong lecture but she's overall good.

We'll See- English class, the never ending papers and oral presentations!!

you'll get the whole APA FORMAT training here because you will be using and hearing APA over and over and over till term 8!!

Anatomy was aloooooot of memorization! I had Dr. Todd Mallory! but I heard he is not teaching anymore! But do the flashcards! Lab wasnt that bad at all! READ READ and MEMORIZE!

Iheartnrsing, yupyup, Mr. Santiagohurt his leg and will go on vacation starting next week. Ms Terry Palma will replace him. You know her? Hopefully, I will just get through this.. I am just not liking the subject at all. Maybe it is too late. Our class starts at 6pm to 1030pm.
