West Coast University Cost

Published

Hi,

I am preparing to meet with a financial aid counselor at the OC campus of West Coast university. I know that my EFC is 0, so I'll qualify for everything financial aid has to offer. I'm also finishing my last couple prerequisite courses this Spring at a local community college so I'll only be paying for nursing core.

I juts want to know if anyone else has been in my situation and been able to attend. My dreams are so close, and I'm scared to have the door slammed in my face because of money.

Any advice would be great. Thank you!

@Nydia Diaz it looks like, upon me submitting my application and reading all print, that they charge by semester credit load.

Can any current students tell me if West Coast University charges tutition by semester or by units? Also, if anyone could tell me the cost they had to pay after transferring prerequisties? I don't get grants because I already have a bachelors degree and the cost is making me hesitant to go to this school.

@thngmnvng Hi! They charge by semester year..and if you have pre-reqs the tuition rate goes waaaay down.

Hi,

Have any of you had pharmacology transferred and where did you take the class at? Also anything on how the nursing core is and what times I will be at the school? Clinical sites for the Ontario? I will be commuting from Hesperia I just want to know if anything is closer to me.

Thank you! ?

Hi ,

I am wondering after transferring your pre requisites ? Are you doing three years or two ? I have one pre requisite left (college math ) that I am considering taking there .

also , for anyone already in the program with core nursing classes . How well in advance do you get a  schedule of clases ? Trying to figure out if I can still work Humm...

thank you !

@griselda miranda if you transfer everything in..besides their required classes..it’ll be just two years

Hi are you starting nov 2 start as well at the NOHO campus?

Specializes in Nursing.

Did anyone receive Cal Grant to attend?

I am considering apply in January but it makes me really hesitant that they can't tell you anything until you apply, take their HESI, speak to a counselor, etc. Like, why can't you give me any information before I commit this much time??

That is so strange! I knew it all before I applied. Did you do the virtual tour thing? I’m getting the cal grant for school in January. Cal grant B.

Hi I’m hoping someone can help me that went to west coast.
although I’m really hoping I get accepted to get accepted to community college I’m considering west coast as a back up.

my question is are the 9 week term classes really tough? I took Chemistry 51 in a 4 week term and it was really hard for me.

also did you need to have a co-sign for your loans?

thank you !!

Being completely honest, I’m taking my basic classes and it’s been pretty easy. So the TEAS you don’t have to take until your ready. If you have a high school diploma and your SATS. Then you don’t have to take your TEAS to take your general course classes. So far I’ve had to take triple the a month you would pay at a community college for them but I have my graduation date set and amazing teachers. As for student loans it may say $85k for the program but remember every student isn’t the same. I get a pell grant of $6300 and I opted out of $4k books so when you add it up I won’t reach $60k for my bachelors degree...... well without interest.  You have to see your own situation you know. Everybody’s life isn’t the same. ALOT of people will tell you no don’t go to a private school. “You’ll live in debt for the rest of your life” don’t listen to what others say. Think about your own life. For me I decided to do it because my husband has a good stable job. And as a mom of 2 and just 23 years old I wanted something fast. We’re buying a house these coming months and so I’m not worried about not getting qualified for house or car because we already did it early on. You have to think about what it is you want to do. Are you going to keep studying to increase your salary? How much do nurses get paid around your area? Are you single, married. Everyone has different answers. A nurse in Miami make about  $4800 a month $30 an hour to start (starting low) if I were to pay off $1k on student loans I will still have left $3800 that’s more than what I’m making now either way LOL. Think about what YOU want. And to answer your questions. IM taking out federal loans. My mom has terrible credit and she was approved for parent PLUS loans so she’s applying every year about $4000 for me

just an example of mine Direct Costs for Academic Year* $16,624.00

left to pay after federal loan and grants $4,422.00

how I made It? parent plus loan. My mom doesn't have the best credit but she was still approved! hope this helps someone.

Hi there,

I was just wondering what institution did you apply to? I just had my financial aid appointment today and I was quoted “Direct cost per year— $37,000”

and I qualified for FAFSA “EFC-0” federal grant—$3,423/year which seems very low to me given the fact that I qualified for the maximum amount federal grant available.
