West Coast University Cost

Published

Hi,

I am preparing to meet with a financial aid counselor at the OC campus of West Coast university. I know that my EFC is 0, so I'll qualify for everything financial aid has to offer. I'm also finishing my last couple prerequisite courses this Spring at a local community college so I'll only be paying for nursing core.

I juts want to know if anyone else has been in my situation and been able to attend. My dreams are so close, and I'm scared to have the door slammed in my face because of money.

Any advice would be great. Thank you!

Hi there,

I was just wondering what institution did you apply to? I just had my financial aid appointment today and I was quoted “Direct cost per year— $37,000”

and I qualified for FAFSA “EFC-0” federal grant—$3,423/year which seems very low to me given the fact that I qualified for the maximum amount federal grant available.

Hey ! I was quoted for the Same amount today hummm... I am wondering if the location matters ?

I feel like the price was a mistake and is either per semester, or it's for a different program all together possibly the LVN-BSN, or is tuition for part-time enrollment. The BSN program was way more expensive when I spoke to admissions.

How come your cost came out to 16,000 ? I thought it was 37,000? What location did you have your financial aid appointment?

Hi guys..I’m enrolled at LA(north Hollywood) campus..I’m sure location doesn’t matter. But after federal loans and pell grants it should bring you to like $22k/year. And remember if you have transfer credits, your next year will be WAY cheap. I got a 12k scholarship thank goodness..and remember they don’t count your cal grants for the estimate either..so if your EFC is $0, your cal grant will probably be like $6k for the year. At least this was the case with mine.

Hi.
Thank you for the information you provided it’s very helpful. I wasn’t aware that they don’t apply the cal grant amount in the estimate. My financial aid advisor isn’t really good at fully explaining the whole breakdown unfortunately. May I ask how did you go about receiving the scholarship, if you don’t mind. I asked my advisor but she said they currently don’t have any? Does that sound correct?

No problem! Yes that sounds about right..last year they had the centennial scholarship which was amazing..but it’s no longer available. The process to applying for these scholarships is so annoying LOL but worth it if you get any. First one I would definitely say search up is NURSING CORP scholarship. They will pay for your whole time in school and supply you with a monthly stipend. You just have to agree to work at a critical shortage facility for two years. Which isn’t bad at all. I got 4 different scholarships..I used Google and search for nursing school scholarships..do as many as you can. Write good essays and save them to use for different ones LOL you have to be enrolled in school and have a start date in order to get anything. It is tedious and exhausting. But it’ll pay off. I think I applied for at least 50! Good luck!

on average how much do you think west coast graduates have to pay monthly for loans humm... any one know ?

hello!

I have a question for those of you already enrolled. Does anyone know how much would a pre req class cost to take at west coast . I just have one more prerequisite class to take and I am considering taking it once I start .

Thank you !

Oh wow! Thank you so much for sharing, it’s good to know that there are scholarships out there that can potentially help with tuition cost. I will definitely be looking into them. I have been pushing back my start date for over a year now because the price tag can be quite intimidating even though I have completed all my prerequisites at a CC. Finally decided to go for it and will be starting in April. Thank you for your help, hopefully I get as lucky as you.

Best wishes!

I know girl! I did the same..was supposed to start in August then pushed it back and started in January! April is right around the corner! So excited for you!! What campus will you be attending?

Thank you!! I will be attending the campus in North Hollywood. I am very excited and nervous LOL.
That’s great that you decided to go for it! Do you mind sharing your experience so far with the classes you are taking? When will you be starting clinicals ?

I’m at North Hollywood too! I’ll start clinical in June. The required classes so far have been good. Online learning is wack..but it’s better than going back and fourth to campus when we don’t really need to. So far so good! I’m hella excited. I wish they could’ve shoved all my classes on one term so I can start core in April. But ugh.
