i have questions about the bs nursing program at west coast university - orange county

  1. i have only high school diploma, do i need to do prerequisite courses at west coast university before i start the bs nursing program?
  2. west coast university got [color=#b22222](ccne) accreditation, does my bs degree (from west coast university) will be accepted in other universities (ucla, uci and csu) in case if i want to apply for ms program?
  3. does the $126.000 enough to cover the 39 months of study at west coast university? or i need more?
  4. is it easy to get a job after graduate from a private school? do you think employees prefer graduates of state universities than private universities?

people that complain about jobs being hard to get or warn that if you go to so and so school that you def. wont get a job if I dont have one because i went to "insert super cool school here" and its better, the reason they dont have jobs is because thats the kind of people you are and do terrible in interviews and prob. go into them with the idea in your head that you got the job because of a school. When in reality it doesnt matter at all once you pass NCLEX and have motivation to go and get a job you will get it, not the people that use the excuse "well im not getting a job and i went here so no one else must be getting one either" stop trying to scare people about loans too, certain states you can make 80% of that loan back in the year you save in an accelerated program. *tissues in advance*

Hi everyone! I'm interested in attending WCU and was wondering if they had an accelerated program for those who already have a BS?

If not, I know the regular tuition is around $132k, but what is it if you already have a BS (because I know some classes can transfer over)? Thanks!

P.S. Also, I read it was 39 months, but on the pdf online, there are 8 semesters )4 years)? How is that broken down into the 39 months?

Hey guys I am planning to attend WCU in anaheim this fall! I was debating between this or University of San francisco which is also private and expensive. I do not wish to be on the waitlist or lottery for the nursing programs because its pointless and stupid to wait. I value my time more thats why Im willing to pay! I need info about:

1. What is the cultural pluralism pre req? I hope it is cultural anthropology so I wont have to take it again.

2. Tuition cost. I took all my prerequisites and already have my AA in science so I know it would lower.

3. Quality of education. I have heard ALOT of bad things about WCU regarding services and quality of education. Their nclex passing rate is pretty low---on the 75% and Im pretty worried about that.

4. Accreditation. Are the credits from this school transferable to CSUs and UCs if I wana go for my masters in the long run?

5. Besides WCU, what are good private schools in socal that dont make too much admission requirements and are fast paced?

**USF has a very good reputation for nursing but I want to go to Socal so Im looking for good reasons to choose WCU anaheim.

Go to a community college in So Cal, there are PLENTY that don't have waitlists. I understand you may be willing to pay a lot of money, but I can't in good conscience recommend that anyone go to WCU as it is too damn expensive. Go get an ADN and then complete the BSN later. You will be paying off loans for decades if you attend WCU.

I am in nursing 3 at Riverside City College (where there isn't a waitlist btw) and the total cost will be in the $3,000 to $4,000 range. I would try at other places first and go to WCU as a last resort.

Its too late for me to apply for the programs now coz the deadline is over. -.- im applying at sac state but with a 3.5 gpa and 76.7% teas i dont think im gona get in since theyre also accepting people with second bachelors. I applied to arc, and i also applied at sierra college which is all lottery and I didnt get enough points to apply for sac city. I wana get school out of the way asap thats why im looking at private schools.

I'm laughing at that karenbt comments. When you go to an interview they hire you based on your person and ability to adapt, not what school you go to. You will have to "endure" a lot of interview pain with an attitude like that going in kinda like "I WENT CSU I NO GET JOB NO CC OR PRIVATE SCHOOL GRAD GOT JOB" which they prob will haha

What ever helps you justify paying for your degree.... Idc

Lol my entire response had nothing to do with paying for a degree or justification. But it had to do with once you pass your state boards it mostly matters to what kind of person you are. I personally don't care as long as I get my RN I've been a paramedic 4 years and have multiple places I can get an ER or ICU job.

@ karanb1r are you currently or have been accepted into any accleerated nursing programs or have a college degree? Just wondering why so hostile towards WCU

I would say to some extent what school u went to does matter and I'm sure it might roll off the tongue better. However you can get your bsn from USC for example or WCU in the end you stil have to pass the NCLEX to even get hired and I think that is most important and then of course accreditation.

I say this since I am a recent graduate from University of Florida a very prestigious school. And I was that same person that was the school name dropper. I learned that a degree from one school does not make you any better. what matters is grades unless your interviewer is a fellow alumni then that could help.

And fyi all graduate/nursing programs are expensive unless u get a ADN. I was accepted to NYU and their program is just as expensive.

I have been accepted to a couple CSU nursing programs...
