i have questions about the bs nursing program at west coast university - orange county
i have only high school diploma, do i need to do prerequisite courses at west coast university before i start the bs nursing program?
west coast university got [color=#b22222](ccne) accreditation, does my bs degree (from west coast university) will be accepted in other universities (ucla, uci and csu) in case if i want to apply for ms program?
does the $126.000 enough to cover the 39 months of study at west coast university? or i need more?
is it easy to get a job after graduate from a private school? do you think employees prefer graduates of state universities than private universities?
Saidyn you can check on WCU website if the Chemistry that you are taking is transferable. Go to registrar and then click on transfer credit then Access to your TES .....then look for the name of your school. When you find your school you will be able to see the classes and their units that are transferable to WCU. I hope this will help and take as many classes as you can @ CC before you transfer if possible.
A big "THANK YOU" to you Nomsa... I have been able to find what I was looking for =) using WCU TES system. So basically, the CC equivalent of WCU biochemistry class is general/intro chemistry. @my CC it's Chem 3A or Chem3B.
A quick correction. I did not see the note on the WCU TES system. Since WCU biochemistry is 5 credits, to Xfer my CC chemistry classes to WCU, I will need a combination of Chem3A + Chem3B
you need a 5unit biochemistry. Thats true u need to take both of them b/c if is less than 5 units you will retake it. Myself I took it again b/c it was a 3unit class and this is what they told me. You need a combination.
Again thank you for all the help. Today, I will be submitting my registration packet to the North Hollywood campus, however I am having mixed feelings about the experience I've had with the front office there. I can never seem to get a hold of my advisor "His/her" voice-mail box is always full so whenever I am able to leave a message I usually have to wait days for a callback, and it's worse when your line get disconnected "they don't call back at all." It looks to me that the admission department does not like to answer questions, and emails that I have sent out to transcript credits dept and admission management dept were never returned. Nomsa, Did you experience anything like that with the front office? I mean for 100K+,I do not expect a royal treatment from WCU but an acknowledgement email would be nice one in awhile, don't you think? Anyway, apart from the very unorganized (I don't care attitude) front office and the huge price tag, how do you like the teaching and program so far? You can keep it simple because I've read the many threads before this one so I know what I am getting myself into. I just hope, WCU is better now(as far as teaching is concern) than it was a thousands postings back. Looking forward to hearing from you =)
I am going to Orange County Campus and I haven't experienced any problem with the front office so far. The nursing program is hard but if you push yourself you will be okay, they don't just pass you. I have no complain so far but the sometimes instructors they won't cover everything, u need to read on your own b/c there is too much information so u read on your own. Myself I don't have any complain here in OC campus.
Hello everyone. Why are there so many people bashing WCU? Unless you are a student or you were, you do not know for sure what is going on and what the program is about. In my opinion, state universities are as easy as community colleges as long as you know what is important, and your education is your number one priority. And yes, I do know from experience. I also do know that WCU RNs get job offers. There are people out there that have a 4.0 and all prerequisites completed and have been waiting to get into a nursing program for a long time, not because of grades or low scores, but because they live in a state that only has a lottery system or a 1000 applicants for 50 spots. Please do not make rude comments or be disrespectful if some chose to attend WCU, and if they can afford it and have no problem paying the tuition because they want a better life for themselves, that is great for them. That does not mean they will be less of a nurse. I have worked with doctors and nurses who graduated from top schools, and yes, they were school smart, but had no clue when it came to patient care, yes, doctors too, and a lot of mistakes were made. So, please stop, we are here to support each other, not to discourage anyone from making a better life for themselves. We are all adults, well, for the most part, and we do know what we are doing. So, unless you have something nice, supportive, and helpful to say, and you know from experience, keep rude and ignorant comments to yourself. Try it, and maybe that will help you with getting a job. Thank you. :) I am sure there will be rude replies from people who just cannot help themselves, because their feelings got hurt. But we cannot stop them, they will keep making comments as long as we keep paying attention. Good luck everyone :)
Hey guys I am planning to attend WCU in anaheim this fall! I was debating between this or University of San francisco which is also private and expensive. I do not wish to be on the waitlist or lottery for the nursing programs because its pointless and stupid to wait. I value my time more thats why Im willing to pay! I need info about:
1. What is the cultural pluralism pre req? I hope it is cultural anthropology so I wont have to take it again.
2. Tuition cost. I took all my prerequisites and already have my AA in science so I know it would lower.
3. Quality of education. I have heard ALOT of bad things about WCU regarding services and quality of education. Their nclex passing rate is pretty low---on the 75% and Im pretty worried about that.
4. Accreditation. Are the credits from this school transferable to CSUs and UCs if I wana go for my masters in the long run?
5. Besides WCU, what are good private schools in socal that dont make too much admission requirements and are fast paced?
**USF has a very good reputation for nursing but I want to go to Socal so Im looking for good reasons to choose WCU anaheim.
