Hello all! This is my first post, and I just had a question. I'm applying to the ADN program at West Central Tech on April 1. I was just curious if anyone knows the average gpa of those that get accepted into the program? Also, I know the average NLN percentiles are in between 80-99, I was wondering if a 96 percentile would be enough to compensate for a less than perfect gpa? The more I think about it, the more nervous I become!:uhoh21: Any help would be appreciated!
Hi Fifth & Fabo:
I am not in the nursing program yet-I just applied a few weeks ago (deadline is April 1st) I am awaiting my real interview-I am not sure if they'll email me or send me a notice via the post office. Still nervous about the real interview!! I really hope that I am accepted, but nothing is a "given" of course.
You are very welcome on the insight-I enjoy sharing information with other nurses-to-be!
I am also applying this year and am nervous about getting in the program. I only have a 3.4 gpa and I scored a 95 on the nln but am not sure if it is good enough to get in. When I went to talk to one of the counselors at the school about my score she just said that she couldn't tell me if it was good or not but she did say that alot of students are getting high scores this year which only made me worry more:(.Does anyone know someone that got accepted to the program last year and what their nln score was?
Fifth&Fabo,
Sorry for the late response. I bought my study guide from Barnes and Noble in February. This is a newer edition. It is the third edition (2009), ISBN number 978-0-7637-6271-1. It had the CD-Rom which really helped me prepare for the computer test. I made a 94, I hope this score will be enough.
that's funny. I looked up the ISBN number and sat for 25 minutes comparing the two....you got the newer version....which means, as soon as I ace the book I'm working on now, I'll be buying that one! I just read that someone who applied this year with a 95 thought she might not have a good enough chance of getting in! OMG! Really??? I don't think I can ace this test!
Heck I would have thought a 95 would be killer!!! Oh well...you can prepare the best you can, and the rest is up to them!!! I can't wait until you all find out!!! Good Luck!!
HopefulRN2010,
Thanks for all the answers! I cannot yet send a private message, so I am having to post my reply.
I actually feel better hearing about the nursing program schedule. I just hope that they send me to Tanner for my clinicals the first quarter! Getting up before 5am to make it to Atlanta will be tough for me!
I am getting excited now! I hope that I hear back from them soon.
Have a great quarter and stay focused...

Well I'm glad you are feeling better about the schedule, I hope I was able to alleviate at least a little bit of the stress! For our clinical schedule, they handed out a paper with all the hospital choices, and you picked your top 3, so it is possible to stay somewhat close. And yes it is BRUTAL having to be at clinical at 0645, I live in newnan, so anywhere they send me I still have to wake up at 0430! But seeing the end of the tunnel makes it all worth it...most of the time:bugeyes:
Good luck, keep me posted and let me know if you have any more questions! I'll be glad to help!
Hi HopefulRN2010,
I read from another follower that you shared some insight to the student RN schedule at WCTC. Would you be so kind as to share with all? Or send me a private message? My ears perked up at "you pick your top 3 hospitals for clinicals". Did you notice most people want to stay close to the school, or that they wanted hospitals in the city? I have to be honest, I WANT the hospitals in the city....so that is music to my ears!!! I already commute there right now, and love it. (the city, not the drive....but with the good comes to bad!)
I hope everything is going great for you this quarter. I just started anat/phys and am in love!!! :heartbeat
Hey- I was going to tell you that hopefulRN told me that her first quarter she had lecture one day per week for 4 hours, lab one day per week for 2 hours, and clinicals 2 days per week from 6:45am-2:45pm USUALLY-
It sounded good to me. I actually pictured us doing clinicals every day and having classes ever day!
Are you liking A&P? Did you mean that you are in love with the class? I took it with K for 193 and 194 (not sure of the new numbers!) and I enjoyed it! I taped the lectures and played the cassettes in my headphones while walking the mornings and in my car while running around town doing errands for work-that really helped me get the material since studying at home is distracting(3 yr old and husband that sometimes acts like one!)
Hopefully we'll be in the program together!!

OMG!!!! Good for you!!!!!!! Thanks for the questions!!! They are similar to ones I'd found on line from other schools, but never thought about getting specific to the school! Did you apply this year? Did you get in? Or are you already in the program? Seriously, thanks for all the insite!!!
