  1. Updates anyone??? I'm taking A&P right now and feel like I'm going to die. I've put off applying for one year....need some more time to ace the GPA.... Congrats on your interviews. Please post how they went, what they asked, how you felt about it....and lastly.....who all are going to be future nurses!!! I'm so excited for all of you!!!!:bowingpur
  2. Congrats to all of you!!! How exciting!!! Be yourself, and talk to them like they are humans...they are!!! Wear a suit and bring a classy, small handbag. Just enough to put your keys in. (No big sloppy Hobo bags....although they are my fave!! ) Those are the biggest tips I hear out in the RN Interview world. You've come this far...you will be amazing!!!! Let us all know how it goes!!
  3. Hello all!!! Thanks for all your responses. The schedule sounds like something I could really get used to, since right now I am up at 6am, and go to bed at 1 or 2 am........ hahaha! I really do love the A&P class. I have Mrs. E. Most don't like her...I love her. She's realistic. A lot of the people in my class have a reality check to get used to...and she's good for that. I'm sad that the choice of hospitals is not what is "used" to be, but hopefully Northside will be there when I FINALLY get in. I pray for each of you every day. It's almost as if I watch for the mailman for you!! Please let us know as soon as you find out. Have a great quarter....ALL OF YOU!!!
  4. Hi HopefulRN2010, I read from another follower that you shared some insight to the student RN schedule at WCTC. Would you be so kind as to share with all? Or send me a private message? My ears perked up at "you pick your top 3 hospitals for clinicals". Did you notice most people want to stay close to the school, or that they wanted hospitals in the city? I have to be honest, I WANT the hospitals in the city....so that is music to my ears!!! I already commute there right now, and love it. (the city, not the drive....but with the good comes to bad!) I hope everything is going great for you this quarter. I just started anat/phys and am in love!!! :heartbeat
  5. Hi ATL_RN, Can you answer a few questions for me? I am looking to apply to WCTC in April 2010. I am a single mom with 3 kids, and no family here for much support. I currently work full time, and earn a pretty descent salary. With that being said, with my "descent" salary, it is also a month to month task to make ends meet. I am very careful. Is it possible to work while you are in school? And by work, I mean something in the afternoon late evening, and still be home to be mom to 3 little's that can't stay home alone? Also, can you give us a brief rundown of how your class worked? And what hospitals you worked at/with? With you having the most experience (on this site anyhow!) with WCTC, I just want to sit and pick your brain. People really do have amazing things to say about the school, and to this point, I say ditto, ditto, ditto!!! I love it there!! Ok....that's it....for now!
  6. that's funny. I looked up the ISBN number and sat for 25 minutes comparing the two....you got the newer version....which means, as soon as I ace the book I'm working on now, I'll be buying that one! I just read that someone who applied this year with a 95 thought she might not have a good enough chance of getting in! OMG! Really??? I don't think I can ace this test! Heck I would have thought a 95 would be killer!!! Oh well...you can prepare the best you can, and the rest is up to them!!! I can't wait until you all find out!!! Good Luck!!
  7. I am a single mom with 3 kids. I work full time, but share custody with their father. This means, we swap every other week. He has his Masters (yep...I was there to pay for and support that!) and is a CPA, so I've earned my "right" to go back to school. My MEGA concern is that when I get into NS, it's an all day program. How in the world do you doing NS all day, and afford to live? I make far more than minimum wage, but paying for 3 kids with ZERO child support and their ballet, cheerleading, baseball and after school care leaves me counting every penny every month-still!!! Do any of you work at night? I also go to a school that only accepts Grants and Scholarships. Where do you apply for laons for NS other than FAFSA? Any hints would be greatly appreciated!!! And kudos to all of you, single parents or not. This is a great thing you are doing, and no matter how hard the road is getting there....I believe the pot of gold waiting at the end will be soooooooo worth it!!! :)
  8. OMG!!!! Good for you!!!!!!! Thanks for the questions!!! They are similar to ones I'd found on line from other schools, but never thought about getting specific to the school! Did you apply this year? Did you get in? Or are you already in the program? Seriously, thanks for all the insite!!!
  9. B1017Thompson, Bless you!!! What was the i/v like? I've pulled loads of questions off line from other RN schools, and have answers ready....but don't know which one's they'll ask. And thanks for the "wanted" idea!!! And not to be nosy...but how'd you do on the NLN?
  10. Hey Blessed2009, The mock i/v's are offered at the school. You might email Lauren Willard at the school and ask who sets them up. I'm not going to take my mock for a few more quarters. Something else...I have the NLN Pre-Nursing Entrance Exam book. Is that the same one you are speaking of? It has all sections broken down in the beginning, and then 3 practice tests at the end. It's really good, but mine didn't come with a CD. I got mine at Barnes and Noble almost a year ago. Do you think they sell the CD individually? And how did you do on your NLN?????
  11. that's awesome!!! I have a friend who took it about 6 months ago, and to this day doesn't know how to read her score. She and I are studying now, and I've been doing what you said...30 mins+ every day. Are you in the program now? Or did you just apply?
  12. I am currently a prenursing student at WCTC. I have all A's thus far, and won't apply in April 2010 without them. I'm taking my final Math and BIO 2113 next 1/4. Has anyone taken the NLN yet, and what are your suggestions for study? I have purchased flashcards and the NCLEX pre-nursing exam book. They are very different. Which one do you think helps more?
